The science of dry ice 🧊!!
Looking to get in the spooky spirit? Halloween is the perfect time for oozing, eye-catching science! We’re ready to break the ice and chat about this week’s .
Did you know dry ice is actually solid carbon dioxide? When you add water to dry ice, it increases sublimation! Sublimation is the process when a solid substance transforms into a gas phase without first melting to a liquid state. The Citizen Science Lab scientists experimented with adding H2O to dry ice to increase sublimation and here’s the final result: a thick, smoke-like fog!
