💛 HUGE doesn't even describe our THANKS to our friends at Bacon Burgh!!! 💛

For the past two years, Bacon Burgh founders Beers of the Burgh have donated 100% of the ticket sales from the Mechanical Pig rides to A+ Schools!! This year $1,321 will pour into our A to Z Funds—money that goes directly to our partner schools in support of attendance incentives!

We put this money toward monthly celebrations of attendance, in-school program enhancements, teacher and staff supports, field trips, and so much more. These supports genuinely help more kids Show Up to school more often, which is a win all around!

THANK YOU to everyone who took on the Pig 🐷 You can now say (a) you've ridden a mechanical pig, AND (b) it was for a good cause!

⏰ Doors open at 8:00 AM
💻 Bring your device and/or schoolwork packets
🍎 Snacks will be provided
🏀 Regular afternoon programming will continue as scheduled

Arlington, Ormsby & Warrington Rec Centers will maintain their regular operating hours and programming.

Families must drop off students in person to complete required emergency contact information and drop-off/pick-up instructions.

Check in with your teacher on Talking Points, Class Dojo, or by email!! ⚡️ Make sure your student gets attendance credit for Showing Up!!⚡️

Kamin Science Center is partnering with the American Chemical Society to host Discovery Day at the Science Center on October 24th, 2026, where guests can engage with Chemistry themed programming.

Steel City Squash, you are a gem! 💎 Today the Pittsburgh Learning Collaborative had the treat of attending our bi-monthly in-person meeting at Steel City Squash's beautiful facility in Homewood.

Attendees from across our network of 130+ regional organizations gathered together to collaborate around systems-level supports that will help get every kid to school every day, resource sharing that will strengthen the programming and services we can offer, and some always appreciated facetime with our peers.

And then, we got a crash course in how to play 57's squash 🙌 Any meeting that ends with laughter and movement is a win in our book!

It's a big week for Kindergarten kiddos!! 🌟 On August 27th PPS kinders will head to school for their first day of the year!

Earlier this month we joined Pittsburgh Arlington PreK-8 school staff to knock doors for all incoming K families, and were able to get over half of the students scheduled for their kindergarten assessment! These assessments give teachers a baseline to work from as the kids dive into learning all of the foundational skills they'll need to be successful in 1st grade.

Huge shout out to Bedtime in a Box for donating these awesome sleep routine kits for every kindergarten family!! ☁️🐘📚 Building good habits now has an immense ripple effect throughout a student's time in school.

And as always, a big thank you to Attendance Works for the great handouts that highlight how important attendance is for every student!
