Sunburst School of Music Learn Music the Fun Way... Sunburst School of Music has been helping kids and adults get started with music and take their playing to the next level since 2011.

Whether your goal is to play in a band, write songs, perform on stage, or just learn your favorites for fun, our patient and experienced instructors will work with you on a course of study to get you where you want to go in the world of music

In our studio in the heart of Squirrel Hill we offer lessons for guitar, bass, drums, piano, voice (singing), ukulele and music production as well as group

programs and performance opportunities. We have friendly, experienced, patient, qualified and fun instructors for all of our instruments. Our teachers all have either university training or professional performance experience and are here to help you take your playing to the next level. Taking lessons should be fun and all of our instructors love sharing their passion with you and helping you discover yours. Now offering online lessons!

Catch the Thanakarn Limtham Trio at the Squirrel Hill Night Market rescheduled for Saturday, August 29th at 9pm!

Thanakarn Limtham Trio is a collective of musicians from Sunburst School of Music who bring their shared love of jazz to the stage. The trio, formed in 2025 by Thai pianist and composer Thanakarn Limtham, features Charlie Scott on bass and Stephen Weinstein on drums.

Their music blends jazz standards, original work, and funky fusion arrangements. With a focus on improvisation and musical interplay, each performance highlights the trio’s individual artistry and their collective chemistry. Their dynamic sound reflects a deep passion for jazz and creates an engaging listening experience for audiences.

First week of summer camp was a success! 😎🎸

Our next featured artist playing the Squirrel Hill Night Market this Saturday is Witch’s Mark 🔮

Witch’s Mark is a Pittsburgh-based jazz-rock / rock-jazz band committed to the noble task of making existential dread groove. Blending fusion-inflected harmonies, restless rhythms, and anti-capitalist lyricism, the band approaches revolution less as a manifesto and more as a very danceable crisis. The group features Laura Fidalgo on vocals, Bo Powers on guitar, Leelin Bowser on bass, Daniel Hayashi on keyboards, and Alex Shallenberger on drums.
