Making a splash in ATHT 515: Neurotrauma Assessment and Management!

Last month, our students traded the classroom for the pool as they took their spinal motion restriction skills into the water! Complete with a swim caps exchange beforehand.

From the shallow end to the deep end, students practiced applying spinal motion restriction principles in an aquatic environment, including how to safely turn and manage an unconscious patient in the water.

Shoutout to Duquesne Women's Basketball athletic trainer Travis Moyer for sharing his expertise with our students.

Favorite Class: Critical Incident & Emergency Care

Career Goal: Jackson is exploring several areas of athletic training, including pediatrics, collegiate, and industrial settings.

Fun Fact: Jackson enjoys collecting vintage clothing, media, electronics, and knickknacks!

It was a good old-fashioned Dukedown on Friday night!

West Allegheny defeated Moon, 21–13, as two rivals, and two Duquesne AT alumni, squared off on the sidelines: Tim Smith ’17 and Pete Houdek ’10, now cheering on their MSAT students, Jackson and Addison.

The whole AT faculty came out to support! Tim was Dr. Erica Beidler’s mentee back in the day, and now Drs. Rosie Cheng and Jaclyn Arduini are mentoring Addison and Jackson. Addison even got to lead the Medical Timeout!

From mentor to mentee, from one generation of ATs to the next, Friday night lights hit a little differently when it’s a Dukedown.
