PRESCHOOL VIRTUAL LEARNING
Below is a more detailed description from our director on the Virtual Preschool Program we are offering here at St. Joseph’s Preschool. Nancy Whistler, Director hopes this helps answers some of the questions she has been receiving.
We know there are lots of questions about using virtual learning with young children. We also realize that it requires parent involvement and support. This virtual learning program with an activity packet is only a stepping stone for when we return to the classroom. If you enroll in the program, you will be contacted by email with further details. (payment info, dates for pick, etc) As we start the year, we welcome feedback from you: what's working, not working, what your Preschooler enjoys most/least, what you would like to see more of, differently, etc. Thanks for your consideration.
Here are some techniques/strategies we will use to engage the children:
~Keep lessons short, 10-15 minutes each
~Use their names as if we are talking to them directly
~Ask them to bring or do something for the next time we meet(ex:make the craft or bring something that begins with the Letter A so we can talk about it)
~Activity box with all the supplies needed to complete the lessons we talk about and explain
~An opportunity for "class" to share their work (still working out details)
~You can watch the lessons when it fits your schedule (not at a set time)
Any additional questions, or to SIGN UP BY AUGUST 15, please email our Preschool Director

Our 2020-21 Back To School Information:
Our Preschool program will start off with virtual/online lessons with activity packets. This decision does not come easily but due to so many conflicting guidelines/arrangements/plans within local school districts as well as state and local recommendations, we feel this is the best solution at this time.
Unfortunately, our Little Dipper class (2's) is on hold. If we are able at some point to have them participate in a classroom program, we will make an announcement here.
We will reevaluate, every month, if in school learning is safe and feasible. Criteria for reopening will depend on state, local and health guidelines, staff availability and financial capability.
Lessons will be accessed on Facebook through a private group page. Once enrolled, you will be invited to the group. Families who sign up for this program and pay a reduced tuition rate will receive access to 10-15 minute lessons from the teachers with an activity box that will include all the materials needed (except markers, crayons, scissors, glue sticks, water color paints) to complete the lessons. Boxes will be available for pick up at the school at the beginning of each month.
Any questions about our virtual program, please email our Preschool Director

Dear Preschool Summer Camp Families, please check your email for the complete letter sent this afternoon from Nancy Whistler, Preschool Director. Here’s a short clip of it.
*****
We have been waiting and wondering about summer camp guidelines, from the State as well as the Diocese. Unfortunately, responding to this unique and uncertain time, we are unable to have the summer camps this year. We want to keep our campers and staff as safe as possible at this time.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We were looking forward to the camps and are saddened by the cancellation. I'm sure your children AND you were looking forward to being at camp as well!

Teacher appreciation week! We are blessed and lucky to have such a caring staff here at St. Joseph’s Preschool. They show their love and compassion for every child who walks though our doors. Even though we can’t physically celebrate you this week at preschool, we want our teachers to know they are loved and appreciated for all that they do! Thank you to our St. Joseph Preschool teachers 💝

A colleague has shared this with us, and we wanted to share with you, our community. This might be something parents would like to do with their families. Preschool aged kids will need help filling in all the questions. Your elementary aged kids can have fun by writing in their own answers! We are living through history right now, and a time capsule is an amazing way to document this experience, to look back on. Feel free to share this page.
