On Friday we celebrated the class of 2029 during the 23rd annual University of Pittsburgh White Coat Ceremony! Our students have marked their first year of graduate school by receiving their white coats and taking the Audiology Oath surrounded by family, friends, and faculty. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication, and can’t wait to see how they leave their mark in the world of audiology! We also want to give a big thank you to Pitt alum Dr. Tish Gaffney, who started the Pitt Audiology White Coat Ceremony for speaking, Dr. Melissa Ruscetta for announcing, and Dr. Aaron Roman for coating our 1st years! 💙💛

Today, Pitt Audiology hosted the second annual Translational Auditory NeuroScience: Lab-based Training for Empowered Self-efficacy (TRANSLATES) Symposium. The second TRANSLATES cohort presented their research posters, where all of their research had the central theme of “Sensory and Cognitive Contributors to Suprathreshold Testing”. We are so proud of all the work they’ve accomplished over the summer! Our first TRANSLATES cohort also presented the research they have continued to work on since last year.
A R25 training award supports TRANSLATES through the NIDCD for audiology students interested in clinical research. First-year students interested in this program should keep an eye out for when the application opens!
