Tryout season… every parent’s favorite time of year — said no one ever. 😅
It can be stressful for both athletes and parents, so here are three quick tips.

1. Your athlete will feel your emotions: Kids are incredibly good at picking up on pressure. When parents stay calm and supportive, it gives athletes the freedom to relax and just play.

2.Focus on controllables: Encourage your athlete to focus on effort, attitude, communication, and body language rather than getting caught up in results or comparisons.

3.Team placement doesn’t define their future: An athlete’s development isn’t determined by one tryout or one roster decision. Some of the biggest growth happens when athletes face adversity or land in situations they didn’t initially expect.

One of the greatest challenges in mental performance training is measuring progress. Unlike strength or speed, growth in confidence, focus, and stress management isn’t always visible.

We’re building a new platform designed to change that. It provides measurable data to track development over time while also identifying early indicators of dips in confidence, focus, or rising stress—so those areas can be addressed proactively rather than reactively.

A friend of mine has a son playing junior hockey, and his coach was recently interviewed about the team. It’s a great example of resilience and what can happen when an athlete commits to the right mindset and builds consistent habits.

Parenting a youth athlete is harder than most people admit.

You’re managing schedules, emotions, expectations, coaches, games, injuries, confidence, and the constant question:
“Am I helping… or making this harder?”

Most parents don’t talk about the stress because they don’t want to sound negative or unsupportive.
So they carry it quietly.
