Holy Cross Academy was formed in 2017 by the combination of Saint Sebastian Elementary School and Saint Teresa of Avila Elementary School, both in Ross Township, Pennsylvania, as part of the North HIlls Catholic Elementary Schools Regionalization. Together, the two elementary schools have been educating young minds and souls for more than 160 years. While the names of the two schools have changed,

what hasn't changed is the spiritual and academic foundation that has been the hallmark of both for generations. Beginning in preschool, Holy Cross Academy students have opportunities unmatched at other Catholic schools. Our comprehensive curriculum offers religion, social studies, reading, technology, fine arts, physical education, science, math, language arts and world languages combined with clean, secure and modern facilities, advanced technology, a state of the art library and science and computer laboratories, Holy Cross Academy also offers enriching educational activities beyond the classroom and competitive athletic teams, We excel at preparing students for high school and beyond. Our commitment to building strong minds is matched by our commitment to building strong faith and character. From preschool through eighth grade, we teach values and provide character building life lessons in each area of our curriculum throughout our school day, and we celebrate Mass as a school community each week. We also believe that as a Catholic community we are called to serve others, particularly those who do not enjoy the same benefits as we do. Our students participate in a variety of service projects each year where they learn about the world beyond their classroom, to care about their neighbors far and wide, and to continue their commitment of service as they proceed through life. As we prepare our hearts for a new week, we’ve been thinking back to Father Zywan’s homily from our first school Mass of the year on Friday. ❤️

He reminded our students that two things are at the foundation of our faith: loving God and loving our neighbor as much as we love ourselves. What a beautiful message to carry with us into a new school year!

Hopefully our students enjoyed their days off after Father Zywan jokingly announced they earned Saturday and Sunday off for doing such a great job during their first two days! 😂

May we head into this week with hearts ready to love God, love our neighbors, and let our faith shine in all that we do. 💙💛

The first day has come to a close, and as the rain has passed and the skies have cleared, we find ourselves looking ahead with hope and gratitude. 🙏☀️

With hearts full of appreciation, we extend a heartfelt thank-you to our wonderful PTG for blessing our K–8 students with sweet smiley cookies on their first day back 😊 A simple joy, a shared smile, and a warm welcome that helped make the day so special!

As we look forward to the year ahead, may it be rooted deeply in faith, filled with learning that opens both hearts and minds, friendships that grow in kindness, and joy that reflects His light in all we do 🦅💙💛

Last night’s Italian Dinner was a true recipe for success! The event brought together our school and parish communities for an evening filled with great food, fellowship, and celebration. 🍝 😋🇮🇹

A special thank you goes to HCA mom and cafeteria staff member Katie Rau for her incredible effort in preparing 28 lasagnas and enough pasta to serve more than 400 guests. We are also deeply grateful to the many HCA families, friends, teachers, and staff who volunteered their time and talents to make the evening such a success!

We are equally grateful for our ongoing partnership with OLMC and the opportunity to participate in their festival each year in such a meaningful way.

🎡✨ The countdown is on! Just 10 days until we’re back at school! 💙💛

We can’t wait to see so many familiar faces at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Festival this week—and before we know it, we’ll be seeing those smiling faces back at HCA! Look for HCA families at all of our booths: waterland ping pong, kiddie kingdom, HCA ambassador, and Saturday night’s Italian dinner! 🦅

As the home of the NHRCES Regional Office, we're excited to support this wonderful community tradition that brings together families, friends, and parishioners for a fun-filled weekend. It's the perfect way to close out summer before we welcome our students back to the classroom.
