A special shout-out to Layla Sewell-Wilson, a senior at CAPA and former Phillips Elementary student, for representing our school community during the Pittsburgh Public Schools Leadership Week Conference.

As part of a presentation on student voice, Layla shared her experiences and thoughtfully responded to questions during the Q&A session with confidence, authenticity, and poise. Her perspective highlighted the importance of listening to and empowering students as partners in education.

We are incredibly proud of Layla for representing Phillips Elementary and Pittsburgh Public Schools so well. Congratulations, Layla, and thank you for using your voice to inspire others!

City of Pittsburgh Recreation Centers will be open for remote learning for students this week during the NFL Draft.

From Wednesday through Friday, the city said students will have access to internet, supplies, activities, breakfast and lunch throughout the school day.

All 10 recreation centers will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on those days, except the Jefferson Recreation Center, which will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Ammon, Arlington, Brookline, Jefferson, Magee, Ormsby, Paulson, Phillips, Warrington and West Penn.

With Pittsburgh Public and several charter schools operating online during the NFL Draft, city recreation centers are stepping in to provide students with safe spaces to learn.
