The Plant Science Technician Program is funded through a $400,000 U.S. Department of Labor – Employment and Training Administration grant to expand institutional capacity and strengthen workforce development opportunities in the plant sciences industry. One hundred percent (100%) of the project costs are federally funded.

Through our partnership, we're introducing innovative greenhouse concepts that will give students firsthand experience with emerging technologies shaping the future of sustainable growing. The man in green in our wet lab at Bidwell Training Center enlightens students daily on plant sciences and nature. "My students learn and grow by doing with their hands in the soil, and applying science in real conditions," says, Ryan Gott, Ph.D. and Senior Director of Horticulture and Agriculture Technology at Bidwell. "Our program is scientific, technical, and physically demanding.
