In Bidwell's Horticulture Technology programs, students get their hands dirty, immerse themselves in nature and dig into science. For Marissa Mathews, it's definitely been a journey. "There have been lots of things I never thought I'd be learning and have the opportunity to do," says Marissa with a smile that blooms across her face. "It's been a nice blessing and great journey," she adds. "I definitely feel a lot more confident, getting my hands into the outdoor experience with our externship. That definitely helped raise my confidence when I got to be out in the world experiencing it for myself and having to think for myself." Marissa believes Bidwell raised her confidence and set her up to land a job quickly- even before she graduated on May 7, 2026. Fresh off his externship at CIMA Life Science in Pittsburgh, Ian Petty is on a journey from student to graduate to now a professional with extensive experience gained in Bidwell's Chemical Laboratory Technician program. "CIMA Life Science shows how a company can make a meaningful impact beyond just its products by improving access to cataracts surgery and restoring vision for people around the world," said Ian at his graduate presentation. "CIMA is a strong example of how a specialized company can make a global impact through innovation and healthcare", he added.
