Throughout Pennsylvania's State of the Woman listening tour, women repeatedly shared that violence against women is not just a private issue. It is a systemic one. Survivors described the barriers they face when seeking safety and justice, including stigma, bias, and systems that can undermine their credibility or make it harder to protect themselves and their children from abuse. Their message was clear: those most impacted must have a voice in shaping the solutions.

The Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts (AOPC), through its STOP Violence Against Women Formula Grant, is supporting a statewide effort to better understand how survivors experience the court system. What participants share will help inform judicial education and identify opportunities to strengthen court responses across Pennsylvania.

If you are 18 or older and have been involved in a Pennsylvania court case related to interpersonal violence within the past five years, your perspective can help drive meaningful change. Participation involves a confidential 60-minute interview by phone or Zoom, scheduled at your convenience. Participants will receive a $75 gift card in appreciation of their time.

Registration is open through August 3, 2026.

There is an opportunity to sign a petition in the information link.

Compare PA legislative action with that of neighbor states. As of end of day June 5, all had recessed for the year.
The PA House passed a budget in April, is in session today, and has over a dozen committee meetings planned for this week.
The PA Senate is out until next Monday, has taken no official action on the budget due June 30, and has no committee meetings on the upcoming committee schedule.
It's almost as if those decades of extreme gerrymandering left a legacy of extreme legislative dysfunction.

The data visualization company Statista has recently released a number of infographics related to women, and we'll be sharing some of those graphs over the next several days. Today's infographic is titled "Female CEOS Gain Ground but Remain Rare," and it shows that since the year 2000, the number of women CEOS of Fortune 500 companies has risen from nearly nonexistent at 2 women, or .4% of all Fortune 500 CEOs in 2000, to 55, or 11%, in 2025. At this rate, it's going to be a very long time before we see gender parity at the top levels of corporate America.
