This fall, CCAC's Music Technology program is hosting a free lecture series on the history of digital music in collaboration with Marc Finer, former product communications director for Sony Corporation.

The six lectures trace the evolution of digital music technology and its impact on how music is created, marketed and consumed—and will provide attendees with a valuable perspective on the past, present and future of the music industry.

Finer's experience in the music industry offers insight into the evolution of how music is enjoyed. During his time at Sony, he helped launch the compact disc in the U.S. Later, he helped introduce numerous other entertainment formats and platforms, spanning from DVD to DTC (Direct-to-Consumer) streaming.

On select dates, participants will also hear from a variety of guest speakers. The lineup includes the vice president of the Recording Academy's Producers & Engineers Wing in Los Angeles, CA, the president of the Super Audio Center in Boulder, CO, and the founder and CEO of Acoustic Sounds in Salina, KS.

The lectures will take place in the Foerster SSC Auditorium on Main Campus from 5–6 p.m.

Last week, CCAC unveiled four new Wild Cat statues across our campuses, creating lasting symbols of school spirit and connection for the college community.

The Wild Cat Monument Project was inspired by former student trustee Kenian Williams, who envisioned each campus having its own Wild Cat landmark—a central place for CCAC students, faculty and staff to meet and reflect on their Wild Cat pride.
