CCAC annually educates more than 30,000+ students through 130 degree, certificate, diploma and transfer programs and offers thousands of students access to noncredit and workforce development courses. The learning-centered institution’s mission is to provide affordable access to quality education and offer a dynamic, diverse and supportive learning environment that prepares the region’s residents for academic, professional and personal success in our changing global society. Join us at CCAC's Homewood-Brushton Center on Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for the second workshop of our Cosmic Careers series: Moontrapreneurs!

This exciting, hands-on experience gives students in grades 5–8 the opportunity to explore exciting pathways in space technology, business and innovation. Participants will become lunar entrepreneurs as they learn to navigate real-world costs and potential profits of starting a business in space. 🚀

In addition, students will:
🔭 Learn brand vision and creation
🔭 Gain behind-the-scenes access to a real spacecraft under construction
🔭 Engage in a live Q&A session with active space industry professionals

Transportation will be provided to and from the Moonshot Museum. Students should be dropped off and picked up at the CCAC Homewood-Brushton Center.

This program is made possible through a grant awarded to the Moonshot Museum by NASA and is offered in collaboration with CCAC Homewood-Brushton Center and the Homewood-Brushton YMCA.

Think you have what it takes to become a Respiratory Therapist? Then join us this month to test your skills and get an in-depth look at a career field that is in demand across our region. 🫁

In support of the American Association for Respiratory Care’s National Respiratory Care Week, CCAC will be hosting two unique open house events on our Main Campus. During these events, you will be able to visit our state-of-the-art labs and get hands-on experience with the equipment used in the field. Visitors will also be able to speak directly with current Respiratory Therapy students and faculty members to learn more about the profession.

🏆 Thanks to CCAC's partnership with UPMC, students can receive up to $12,000 in tuition assistance, along with paid work opportunities, flexible hours and the potential for sign-on bonuses!

The events are set for October 26 and 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Current CCAC students, faculty, staff and anyone interested in learning about the program are welcome to attend.

This October, "The Evolution Behind the Digital Music Revolution" continues with lectures structured around the history of the digital era. 🎵

In partnership with the CCAC Music Department, former product communications director Marc Finer will be discussing the legalities surrounding "fair use" and how digital music effects the user experience across MP3, HD video and concert mediums.

The six lectures trace the evolution of digital music technology and its impact on how music is created, marketed and consumed—and will provide attendees with a valuable perspective on the past, present and future of the music industry.

The lectures will take place in the Foerster SSC Auditorium on Main Campus from 5–6 p.m.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), and CCAC will be hosting several events—both in person and online—to provide the college community with information about the resources available to help foster healthier lives and relationships. 💜

Join us for Purple Thursday on the dates below to show your support and learn more about local resources. Students who visit and participate in a healthy relationship activity will be entered into a raffle to win a Domestic Violence Awareness Month shirt.

Additionally, students can join the "Dear Survivor" messaging board to anonymously show support and connect with the CCAC community. It can be a letter, song, drawing, poem, or anything else you would like to share with yourself, a survivor, or someone you love. All posts and comments are subject to approval by a moderator.

Support CCAC Art faculty this week by visiting the All-College Art Faculty Exhibition on our Main Campus! 🎨

Nearly 30 works of art are on display, featuring a variety of creative mediums. The show highlights the immense talent of 14 CCAC Art program faculty members who thrive as working artists outside of teaching and mentorship.

Members of the college community can view the exhibition in West Hall during regular campus operational hours from now through Oct. 4. We hope you can stop by!
