Serving as a mentor with SWSG can be one of the most fulfilling experiences of your time at CMU! The bonds our mentors make with their girls is undeniable, and nothing can compare to having a tangible impact on the women of the future.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our crowd-funding campaign thus far! With a week left to go, we have reached 50% of our total goal. Any amount that you are able to donate is so appreciated, and goes towards helping our mentors give the girls the best experience possible through Strong Women, Strong Girls. Check out our page, which has a short video of our mentors talking about what SWSG has meant to them, and descriptions of what we do, and why your help is so important. Thank you!

A few weeks ago, Carnegie Mellon's class of 2016 graduated and with it, our own Mopewa Ogundipe will be leaving SWSG. Momo studied Computer Science and Robotics at Carnegie Mellon and has a job next year working at Khan Academy. Despite her rigorous course work and major, Momo has made time for Strong Women Strong Girls time and time again. She served as the chapter co-director during the 2014-2015 school year and accomplished some really amazing things, like using crowdfunding
to raise funds for the organization and re-establishing the Exec board. Even after her tenure as co-director, Momo continued to mentor and is beloved by all of her girls. Outside of SWSG, Momo has been involved in many other organizations and even modeled for 2016’s Lunar Gala! Momo is an amazing strong woman who will go far, and we can’t wait to see where life takes her!

Yesterday, all of the mentors and strong girls from Pittsburgh met up to celebrate Stella's 10th birthday at Jump in the Spring! We had so much fun meeting new girls, and our girls had so much fun going around to different stations and having a fun filled day. It was amazing to see how expansive Pittsburgh's Strong Women Strong Girls community is, and we were all reminded that what we do fits in with something even bigger.

Although we are not mentoring this week because the girls are on spring break, we had a lot of fun spending time with them Saturday, March 19th, for a campus visit to Carnegie Mellon! The girls had a lot of fun watching fun science experiments, meeting robots, listening to a music performance, and experience a real college meal! The girls had so much fun, and we are very excited to continue this trip for many years!

This week, our mentors are off on spring break enjoying some relaxing time at home in order to recharge for the coming weeks! March, as many of you know, is Women's History Month, and it's important to highlight programs like SWSG, which play a key role in the empowerment of young girls. The role of a good mentor cannot be overstated, and at SWSG, we hope to fill that role to our girls!
Aside from SWSG, there are many other programs that focus on women mentoring young girls, like Million Women Mentors, Girls Today Women Tomorrow, and Young Women Rock. During this month where we reflect on how far women have come, let's recognize that SWSG and other mentoring organizations are trying to pave the way for these girls' futures.

This week, we are focusing on leadership with our girls! We talked to them about 15-year-old Olivia Bouler, who has made it her mission to raise awareness about environmental problems are country faces. By introducing our girls to a young woman close to them in age, we hope to show them that they too have the ability to raise awareness for issues they see around them.

This week, we talked to the girls about the Kind Campaign and their founders Molly and Lauren! The girls had fun learning about this awesome project and learned important lessons on girl-on-girl love!

As college is starting to ramp up, being able to mentor has been a great break from the high-paced CMU life. Both the girls and the mentors are thankful to participate in Strong Women Strong Girls!

Our second week back at mentoring was great, and we welcomed many new mentors into our chapter! Training was held this past Saturday, and both new and old mentors attended to learn more about how to be a great mentor. We're looking forward to another great semester!
