I personally love working on college essays because there are so many different directions you can take them. This writing is intimate, creative, introspective and forward looking. There is no singular right way to do it but there are certainly somethings that are a big NO.
Our next Town Hall discusses many aspects of college essay writing.
• Different Types/ Style: Statements, short responses, personal essays etc.
• Topics: Good vs. inadequate topics.
• Prompts: Selecting prompts before versus after writing
• Timeline: When to get started
• Challenges: What to do if your student does not know where to begin

Anatomy of a College Essay
College Essays are not standalone writing pieces on a college application. Applications typically have multiple writing prompts that pull together different aspects of students‘ academic and personal lives. The writings should set what we call the “overarching theme” of each application. https://www.axiostutoring.com/upcoming-classes -Halls

A mom of a senior called us this morning, frantically looking for SAT Math help for the March test.
WHY? Because she is applying to schools in Florida and test scores are not optional. She NEEDS them. Her admission is on hold, contingent upon March SAT test scores.
How often have you heard lately that you don’t need to take the SATs or ACTs because submitting test scores is OPTIONAL.
While the statement is mostly true keep in mind requirements vary greatly from one school to another.
Don’t let blanket statements leave you scrambling. Enter the college admission season with all components of your application ready to go.
You can then choose whether you need to send the scores to a college or hold them back.
