Sweetest part of our “Tour of the Strip” was getting to hear the history of Grandpa Joe's Candy Shop straight from the founder! 🍭💙

We were proud to be a stop on Crate Cooking School and Kitchen Store’s Tour of the Strip this week!

Tour participants stopped by Grandpa Joe’s and had the chance to meet Chris, our Founder & CEO, and hear a little about the history of Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop - right in the place where it all began.

Our Strip District store was our very first Grandpa Joe’s location, opening in 2012. More than 14 years later, there’s still something pretty special about welcoming people through those doors and sharing our story.

We love being part of Pittsburgh’s iconic Strip District, surrounded by so many incredible locally owned businesses, markets and Pittsburgh traditions.

Pittsburgh born. Pittsburgh proud. And always proud to call the Strip home. Thanks to Crate Cooking School & Kitchen Store for including Grandpa Joe’s on the tour!

This was “eggs-actly” the menu we needed this week! Backyard Nights was the theme for this class! The Sour Cream & Chive Deviled Eggs were amazing! So was everything else on this menu by Chef Rachel… Grilled Summer Vegetables with Fresh Chimichurri , Chili-Garlic Grilled Chicken with Avocado-Cherry Salsa, Peach Caprese Salad, Strawberry Watermelon Salad with Honey Lime Vinaigrette, Raspberry Fool, Summer Sunset Cocktail! 🍹 it was basically a no-cook menu, paired with a few grilled items…just perfect for hot weather! ☀️

A little “horsing around” behind the scenes in the KDKA kitchen! Made a couple of “rad” dishes in honor of National Horseradish Month! Steakhouse Sliders with Horseradish Cream and Horseradish Potato Salad were the perfect pair to showcase the spicy root vegetable on these hot summer days! You can view the segment here…. ⬇️

Still relishing my time yesterday! It was a dill-ite to feature some pickle-forward menu items to celebrate Picklesburgh coming up this week! 🥒

In a bit of a pickle…forgot to get pictures with the hosts… and ! I always enjoy my time in the kitchen with those two! But also got to spend some extra time with after the segment while cleaning up, since the weather report studio is temporarily in the same area! We had fun chatting and enjoyed the Big Dill Crispy Chicken Bites with Fresh Pickle Ranch , Fried Pickle Dip, and what I like refer to as “Frozen Pickle Kissed Wine” 🥒
