We help with the rescue, recovery, veterinary care, adoption and transport of Galgos rescued in Spain. Educate the public about animal welfare issues

In 1999 Sos Galgos was really started. Alberto Sorde, a veterinarian and his wife Anna Clements, in Barcelona Spain reacted to the possibility of 350 Galgos being killed due to a track closure. He responded and they were given a reprieve. He then had 350 greyhounds to care for. He contacted the busiest greyhound rescue group at thie time in the US. Greyhound Friends of NC. I as their veterinarian

Turrón update ✨

We moved him into a foster home with a team member, Marian, so he could recover in the comfiest place we could find with constant care and attention. Turrón is happy to spend the days lounging around, and doesn’t even pay any mind to the resident cat.
The bone infection is still persistent and present, so 6 more weeks of antibiotics are needed. Our fingers, toes, and paws are crossed that they do the trick and he can be placed for adoption soon ❤️

Thanks to everyone who has donated toward this incredible boy’s care.

Turrón’s surgery was successful! We couldn’t be more thrilled he can finally begin living a healthy, pain free life — the life he always deserved but was deprived of for nearly 8 years. Thank you to all who donated and shared his story. Turrón will soon be ready for a family of his own ❤️

Request for Help for Turrón 🐾

Turrón is a 7-year-old galgo who arrived at SOS Galgos with his leg in a very bad condition.

We feared it might be cancer. After many tests, thankfully, that possibility has now been ruled out. Turrón is suffering from an old and very severe bacterial injury that has progressively destroyed his leg.

Friday, he will undergo surgery with Dr. Novoa.
A very complex operation with a cost of €2,000, adding to the many veterinary expenses we have already been facing in recent months, including the surgeries for Kenia and Capri.

Because when they are no longer useful, many galgos are simply discarded — and that is when they arrive to us.

We urgently need help to keep going.
Please consider making a donation, there is no amount too small! Donate through our website (www.sosgalgos.org) or using the donate button.

Together, we can help Turrón, and the other 38 Galgos waiting to arrive to us, live without pain. ❤️

Who is heading to sunny Florida one week from today? 😎

Contact to adopt. They adopt to more than half the USA. We can’t wait to spend another week with these 8 special galgos before sending them on their way ✈️💜
