The curtain goes up on the 20th Anniversary Woodland Hills Alumni Cabaret this Saturday, June 6 at 7:00 PM, and time is running out to save on tickets!

Online tickets are just $15, but they must be purchased by MIDNIGHT tomorrow night (Friday). After that, tickets will only be available at the door for $20.

Student tickets will be available at the door for just $10, and children under 5 are FREE.

Join us for an unforgettable evening featuring more than 25 talented alumni from Woodland Hills School District's award-winning musical productions as we celebrate two decades of music, memories, and community.

All proceeds benefit the Woodland Hills Foundation's Backpacks of Hope and Free High School Pantry programs.

As we wrap up today's celebration of our 2026 Woodland Hills Foundation Scholarship recipients, we'd like to recognize one final outstanding student.

Although Lindzy Njakwe was unable to join us at the Academic Awards Banquet, we still want to take a moment to celebrate her accomplishments and congratulate her on being named the recipient of the Woodland Hills Foundation Career & Technical Scholarship.

Lindzy’s application reflected tremendous personal growth, resilience, creativity, and determination. After moving to Pittsburgh and beginning a new chapter at Woodland Hills, she embraced opportunities to grow through art, writing, and meaningful relationships with teachers and mentors.

In her essay, Lindzy shared how education helped her discover confidence, purpose, and hope while overcoming personal challenges. Her passion for psychology and mental health advocacy is driven by a sincere desire to help others feel seen, supported, and understood.

This fall, Lindzy will attend the Community College of Allegheny County to study Psychology, with plans to continue her education and ultimately pursue a doctorate in the field.

Congratulations, Lindzy! We are proud of all you have accomplished and wish you the very best as you begin this exciting new chapter.

Our next spotlight shines on Jessica Diaz Chavez, recipient of the 2026 Rotary Club of Forest Hills Interact Scholarship!

This scholarship is funded by the Rotary Club of Forest Hills and recognizes a graduating senior who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to service, leadership, and the ideals of Interact. Jessica was presented with the scholarship by Forest Hills Rotary member Ed Hyde.

Jessica’s application reflected a genuine passion for helping others and making a difference in her community. As President of the Woodland Hills Interact Club, she led by example, embracing Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self through volunteerism, community engagement, and support for those in need.

Throughout high school, Jessica devoted hundreds of hours to service, including community cleanups, food distribution efforts, church volunteer work, tutoring classmates, and participating in community events. She wrote thoughtfully about how these experiences taught her leadership, responsibility, compassion, and the importance of giving back.

Jessica also shared how being bilingual has allowed her to assist classmates and community members, helping bridge language barriers and support others in meaningful ways. Her desire to serve others extends into her future career goals, where she hopes to make a lasting impact through healthcare.

This fall, Jessica plans to attend the UPMC School of Nursing to pursue her dream of becoming a registered nurse. She shared that nursing has been her goal since childhood because she enjoys caring for others, listening to people, and helping them feel supported during difficult times.

Our next spotlight shines on Jordin Abrams, recipient of the 2026 Rotary Club of Forest Hills “Service Above Self” Tom Nunnally Memorial Scholarship!

Funded by the Rotary Club of Forest Hills and presented by Rotary member Gail Edwards, this scholarship recognizes a student who exemplifies Rotary’s guiding principle of “Service Above Self.”

Jordin’s application reflected a genuine commitment to serving others and making a positive impact in her community. Throughout her high school years, she devoted countless hours to volunteer service through her church, the Woodland Hills food pantry, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, youth soccer programs, community events, and numerous school and gifted program activities.

A dedicated student-athlete, Jordin participated in varsity soccer, bowling, and golf, serving as captain of the girls’ soccer team and earning the respect of both teammates and coaches through her leadership, work ethic, and positive attitude. Her teachers and mentors consistently described her as compassionate, dependable, and eager to help others.

In her scholarship essay, Jordin wrote thoughtfully about the meaning of service, sharing her belief that volunteering should come from a sincere desire to help others rather than personal recognition. She reflected on how acts of kindness and selflessness can bring people together and help create stronger communities.

This fall, Jordin plans to attend Kent State University, where she will study Anthropology. She hopes to better understand what makes people both different and alike while continuing her lifelong commitment to serving others.

Our next spotlight shines on Livia Rocco, recipient of the 2026 Julia Anne McCool Memorial Scholarship for the Arts & Humanities!

Livia’s application reflected extraordinary talent, leadership, and a deep love for the performing arts. Throughout her time at Woodland Hills, she has distinguished herself as an accomplished actress, vocalist, musician, mentor, and student leader whose impact on our performing arts community has been truly remarkable.

A familiar face on stage and behind the scenes, Livia has excelled in Woodland Hills musicals, Chamber Choir, Jazz Band, and marching band. Her dedication to her craft has earned recognition at the highest levels, including a Gene Kelly Award nomination for Outstanding Actress and, most recently, the 2026 Gene Kelly Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her role in Young Frankenstein.

Beyond her own performances, Livia has devoted countless hours to mentoring younger students as Student Director for the Junior Musical program, helping young performers build confidence, develop their talents, and discover a love for the arts.

In her scholarship essay, Livia shared how Woodland Hills’ arts programs and teachers helped transform a childhood passion into a future career path. She wrote thoughtfully about the power of storytelling, music, and performance to foster empathy, build confidence, and create meaningful human connections.

This fall, Livia will attend Syracuse University to study Acting, where she will continue pursuing her dream of a career in the performing arts.

Throughout her time at Woodland Hills, she has excelled in computer science, engineering, robotics, and business courses while remaining deeply committed to helping others and building inclusive communities.

As a leader in FBLA, robotics, and technology initiatives, Loraine has demonstrated outstanding problem-solving, collaboration, and teamwork skills. Her accomplishments reflect not only a passion for learning, but also a desire to use her talents to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

In her scholarship essay, Loraine shared how both the sciences and humanities helped shape her understanding that meaningful innovation requires more than technical expertise—it also requires communication, collaboration, and an appreciation for diverse perspectives. Inspired by her own experiences and her passion for supporting English Language Learners, she hopes to use technology to help bridge communication barriers and create more accessible opportunities for diverse communities.

This fall, Loraine plans to attend Macalester College, where she will major in Computer Science and minor in Linguistics. Her goal is to combine these fields to develop tools and technologies that foster connection, understanding, and opportunity for people from all backgrounds.

Taniyah’s application reflected compassion, determination, and a thoughtful understanding of the importance of both science and the humanities in education. Inspired by her experiences caring for family members and witnessing the impact healthcare professionals can have on patients and their loved ones, she plans to pursue a career in nursing centered on empathy, service, and whole-person care.

Throughout her time at Woodland Hills, Taniyah has balanced academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities with maturity and dedication. She has been actively involved in basketball, softball, National Honor Society, and the Health Sciences program, while developing strong leadership, teamwork, and time-management skills both on and off the field.

In her scholarship essay, Taniyah reflected on how studying both the sciences and humanities helped shape her into a more analytical, empathetic, and well-rounded individual. She wrote about the importance of understanding not only data and facts, but also the human experiences behind them—an outlook that will undoubtedly serve her well in the healthcare profession.

This fall, Taniyah plans to attend Chatham University to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. We are confident that her compassion, dedication, and commitment to helping others will make a lasting impact on the lives of the patients and families she serves.

She wrote thoughtfully about how learning English opened new opportunities in her own life while inspiring her to support students who may be facing similar challenges.

🌟 Our next spotlight shines on Aubrie Moon, recipient of the 2026 Woodland Hills Foundation H.U.G.S. Volunteer Scholarship! 🌟

Aubrie’s application reflected exceptional kindness, leadership, and a sincere commitment to serving others. Throughout her time at Woodland Hills, she has dedicated countless hours to volunteering and mentoring younger students through programs including Student Summit, Junior Musical, marching band, and summer camp programs.

As a leader in Student Summit, Aubrie helped create safe and supportive spaces where students could discuss mental health, build connections, and learn from one another. She also volunteered extensively with the Junior Musical program, helping younger students develop confidence, discover their talents, and feel welcomed and included.

In her scholarship essay, Aubrie wrote beautifully about the importance of kindness, inclusion, and creating positive experiences for children. Whether serving as a camp counselor, mentor, student leader, or volunteer, she has consistently demonstrated a genuine desire to uplift others and make a difference in their lives.
