I've been trying to have more empathy for others lately. Sometimes it's hard because you don't know when someone is just trying to take advantage of you. Panhandlers can be quite aggressive once they spot someone soft.
I remember years ago I was approached in a parking lot by someone claiming to have run out of gas and needed some money. I got a weird vibe and I was very curt and stern. Later that same day, this person was on the news for aggressive panhandling: once someone was being gracious enough to hand over money, they would press for more and more, VERY AGGRESSIVELY!
Listen to your intuition, it's your superpower and it may just help avoid a catastrophe.

Yes, it's in NY, but the same is happening in our towns. There isn't much accountability or repercussions for some criminal's actions. What does that mean for us? Well, just be more prepared and aware of things around you. If you look at this history of a perpetrator you will find that there really isn't random violence, just random times and places. Pittsburgh has at least one firearm related crime every day and it's just getting worse. I don't believe you should take the fi****ms away from the good law-abiding citizens because that only gives the bad guys a huge advantage. Believe me when I tell you, they will take any advantage they can get! If you're not one to carry a firearm, at least get yourself some real-world training in self-defense and situational awareness so that you can spot everyday anomalies to our peaceful day.

A career criminal with a decadeslong rap sheet slayed people in New York City. In other words, it’s just another week in the Big Apple.

Today Kathryn Flesher and I had the great opportunity of virtually teaching Ukrainian women how to defend themselves from the occupying Russian soldiers. My former student Vanessa Mackinnon Taught English over there and Helped process women as they fled the country. Many women have stayed and I'm glad I had the opportunity to give the personalized information to help them feel safer in such a horrible time. War is such a shameful thing and I truly hope it all ends soon.
