We are thankful to partner with Babysitting Logistics to alleviate childcare as a barrier for our Scholar-families as they diligently work to achieve their post-secondary and professional goals! Read more here. 🖤💛
When a parent gets called into work or school is canceled, most will start dialing a short list for childcare — a neighbor, a relative or maybe a college student who babysits between classes.
But when that list nets no help — that’s when Jasmine Lane’s telephone rings.
At 36, the founder of Babysitting Logistics has built a business around the moments when parenting plans fall apart. Her service operates around the clock. She and her staff of vetted caregivers respond to everything from last-minute emergencies to scheduled childcare visits that can stretch overnight — or even across state lines.
“We’re flexible,” Lane said, even if “you need us just one time.”
Unlike many nanny agencies that require yearlong commitments from families, Babysitting Logistics responds to families juggling unpredictable lives. Lane prefers seven to 10 days notice when possible but she usually can accommodate urgent requests — like a sick child or parents suddenly called to work.

In partnership with The Young Dreamers’ Bookstore, the Next Gen Literacy Lab Series is a three-part, hands-on program that uses children’s literature as a catalyst for curiosity, innovation, and early exposure to entrepreneurship. Complementary funding for additional childcare needs is provided by The Pittsburgh Foundation.
“Pittsburgh Scholar House is extremely grateful to The Grable Foundation and The Pittsburgh Foundation for their generous support,” said Dr. Daren Ellerbee, CEO of PSH. “Through this funding, along with our partnership with the Young Dreamers Bookstore, PSH aims to nurture early literacy, spark innovative thinking, and empower families to see themselves as creators, problem solvers, and potential entrepreneurs. This series reflects our commitment to building multigenerational learning opportunities that honor families’ strength and expand what is possible for both parents and children."
The Grable Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of children and youth in the greater Pittsburgh region. It supports early learning, innovative public school initiatives, out-of-school-time opportunities, family and caregiver engagement, and vibrant community resources.
For 80 years, The Pittsburgh Foundation has focused on improving the Pittsburgh region through philanthropy. Education is a basic needs area of grantmaking at the Foundation. It strives to ensure access to high-quality in-class and out-of-school time programs.
