The first day of Hanukkah is today, December 25th. This 8-day festival is often celebrated by lighting the Menorah, reciting prayers, and playing games like spin the dreidel! We wish everyone who celebrates a Happy Hanukkah!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all those who celebrate! A special thank you to our BHAS Team this holiday season, for your hard work and dedication all year round.

A Moment in Pitt History: The Cathedral of Learning is home to 31 Nationality Rooms ranging from all countries of the world.
The English Room, classroom 144, was designed by Albert A. Klimcheck in 16th century Tudor Gothic style and reflects major aspects of American History: English language and law. It is the largest Nationality Room and contains a large amount of original material from London's House of Commons which was destroyed by bombs during World War II. Each window bears a coat of arms representing an English city or a famous English person from history. The English room was dedicated on November 21, 1952. This room, along with twenty-five other Nationality Rooms with different architectural styles, was conceived in the 1920s by sociologist Ruth Crawford Mitchell as a means of linking the university with the immigrant culture of the steel-working families.
In this photo, workers use a window to load a column to be installed in the English Nationality Room with the Heinz Memorial Chapel seen on the left!
This month, BHAS is happy to recognize another member of our team, Kaila Markette, Event Services Manager! We want to thank Kaila for all that she does for BHAS and are proud to have her as a member of our team!

International Human Rights Day is today, December 10th! Today commemorates the anniversary of one of the world's most groundbreaking global pledges: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)(https://ow.ly/BAy250UoBsh).
