Final Day Marine Corps Educators Workshop

What an incredible way to wrap up an unforgettable week at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego! We began the morning by witnessing the inspiring Morning Colors ceremony, the certificate presentations, and had the honor of attending the Bravo & India Company Graduation.

Thank you to the Marines for your hospitality and commitment to educating us about the many opportunities available through the Marine Corps. This experience gave us valuable insight that we can bring back to better serve and guide our students.

Day 4 of the Marines Educators Workshop

We had the honor of watching the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor (EGA) pinning ceremony for the recruits who officially earned the title of Marine after completing the Crucible. Seeing all that grit and dedication pay off firsthand was incredible.

Afterward, we got to sit down for breakfast with them at the Warriors’ Breakfast to talk about their journeys—why they chose to join the Corps and what’s next after graduation. After everything they’ve been through, it was so refreshing to hear what they were looking forward to most: the simple things. A quick trip to the gas station for an energy drink, catching the new Spider-Man movie, and just taking a breath.

We also got to do a simulation of on of the Crucible challenges the 12 Stalls.

Huge respect and gratitude to these new Marines!

We are not the only ones with a College and Career Center.

Education Opens Doors with the Marines

One of the biggest benefits of serving in the Marine Corps is the investment in your future. Marines can take advantage of education programs like Tuition Assistance, the GI Bill, FAFSA, scholarships, and leadership training to earn college credits and degrees while serving and after their military caree

Day 2: MCAS Miramar

Today we had the opportunity to visit Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, home to some of the Marine Corps’ most advanced aviation units.

MCAS Miramar plays a critical role in training, maintaining, and deploying combat-ready aircraft and Marines in support of missions around the world. From fighter jets to helicopters, location is essential to Marine Corps aviation and national defense.

Also, Enrique Mendoza PHS Alumni from Class of 2025 and current UC Berkeley student is with us on this Marine adventure.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is on California’s Central Coast, about halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, with beaches, and hiking trails just minutes away.

Their motto is “Learn by Doing” because students gain hands-on experience through real-world projects from day one.

The campus is a working farm and has its own dairy, vineyards, orchards, and livestock. It’s also able to offer beach life with Pismo Beach and Avila Beach being 15–20 minutes away.

Cal Poly is one of the nation’s best public universities for engineering and architecture.

It is one of 3 California Polytechnic Colleges with others located in Pomona and Humboldt.
