Real projects. Real experience. Real industry connections.

SAW Club students are putting their skills to work on a high-end residential project!

Through a partnership with Advantage Architectural Woodwork in Levant, Kansas, students are producing rift-sawn European white oak veneer that will be used on custom interior doors.

The collaboration was made possible by Advantage owner Bob Holloway, a 2004 WPM graduate and current program advisory board member.

"What makes this program so special is how unique it is in the country. It provides students with the opportunity to learn all aspects of the wood products manufacturing industry through hands-on experience at a very high level. This was a great opportunity for the students to learn large scale veneer layups using their existing veneer equipment." — Bob Holloway

We appreciate Bob giving our students this amazing opportunity!

The equipment is here to be used. And our students use it.

In our program, learning goes beyond lectures. Students operate CNC machinery, fabricate cabinetry and turn designs into real products ... building skills with every setup, cut and completed project.

Classroom knowledge. Hands-on experience. The confidence that comes from knowing how to get the job done.

This is what hands-on learning looks like.

WPM sophomores in CAM class are getting real experience on the CNC router — learning how to operate it, program it and understand what makes it work.

For this project, students prepped a new spoil board by surfacing both sides of the MDF for better vacuum performance.

It’s not just learning about the technology. It’s learning how to use it.

Alumni Testimonial!! 🦍

"Going through the program is the single best thing I did for my career. The classes are fun and genuinely interesting — they never feel like typical college courses. The professors care about who you are and invest in you every day. I walked away with a great education, lifelong friends, and strong connections. Plus, I got to make some seriously cool projects!" -- Chris Wernimont

Chris currently serves as Operations Engineer at Adams Group!
