🎓 WHAT HAPPENED AFTER GRADUATION?
FROM PITT STATE TO TESLA!
From international student to Engineering Technician at Tesla!
Meet Ronit Chaudhari, an alumnus from India who earned his Master’s degree in Materials Science at Pittsburg State University in December 2024.
Today, Ronit is an Engineering Technician III on the Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery team at Tesla’s Gigafactory Nevada. He tests and validates materials used in battery manufacturing, supports production, and helps maintain quality standards.
How did his journey from Pitt State to Tesla begin?
At Pitt State, Ronit worked as a Research Assistant at the National Institute for Materials Advancement (NIMA), under the mentorship of Dr. Ram Gupta. His research in materials science, energy materials, and polymer chemistry strengthened the technical, analytical, and problem solving skills he now uses in his career.
After graduation, he began working as a Quality Control Technician at Prime Beverage Group. About eight months later, he pursued an opportunity at Tesla.
Beyond academics, what made Ronit’s Pitt State experience so special?
One of his favorite memories is his first day of orientation, when he met students from around the world and made new friends. Celebrating cultural festivals and participating in campus activities helped him build lasting friendships and experience a welcoming community.
What advice does Ronit have for future international students?
He encourages students to explore research opportunities, learn from faculty, develop practical skills, seek internships, and connect with alumni and professionals. His own goals include continuing to grow professionally and taking on leadership roles in the materials science and energy industries.
Ronit’s story shows how mentorship, practical research experience, and determination can help turn a dream of studying abroad into a meaningful career.
