Take a look at JMI's review process!

A quality review aids the Editor in deciding a manuscript's disposition and provides constructive feedback for improvement. It also facilitates the dissemination of valuable insights on business behavior through the JMI. Key components of a quality review include:
Critical Evaluation
-A rigorous assessment of the manuscript is essential. Reviewers should analyze major claims and analyses for clarity, correctness, and conciseness, noting both strengths and weaknesses. Feedback must be clear and detailed enough to persuade the Editor and the authors.
Promptness
-Timeliness is crucial; the JMI aims for an initial decision within 60 days. Reviewers should complete their evaluations within four to six weeks, prioritizing their assignments accordingly.
Constructiveness
-Reviewers should aim to enhance the manuscript's potential rather than solely act as gatekeepers. While constructive criticism is important, reviewers must avoid imposing their views on the authors.
Fairness and Impartiality
-Quality reviews require impartial evaluations. Reviewers should set aside personal biases and strive for fairness and open-mindedness.
Diplomacy
-Negative feedback should be delivered diplomatically. Critiques should focus on the manuscript, avoiding personal attacks on the authors. Reviews should be respectful, as if the authors could see them.
Confidentiality
-The JMI maintains a "double blind" review process, meaning reviewer and author identities are kept confidential. Reviewers must not discuss manuscripts with others, ensuring ethical standards and privacy are upheld.
Thoroughness
-A high-quality review comprehensively addresses clarity of objectives, conceptual and methodological rigor, logical organization, relevant literature, result discussions, readability, significance, and contribution.

The Journal of Managerial Issues recognizes the vital role of peer reviewers in the publication process. As an ad hoc reviewer, you will contribute to shaping the individual manuscript and improving the readership and credibility of the Journal. JMI wishes to add reviewers in all management and management-related disciplines -- accounting, finance, marketing, management information systems, management, psychology, sociology, etc. If you would like to serve as an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal, please fill out the Reviewers Information Form and e-mail it back to [email protected]. Please note that as Board positions open up, replacement Board Members are selected from our pool of ad hoc reviewers.

Want to submit your manuscript to JMI? Here's how:

Submission Guidelines
-All submissions must adhere to these requirements. Deviations may result in desk rejections. Consult The Chicago Manual of Style if unsure.
Submission Process
-Send manuscripts as email attachments to [email protected].
Format
- Double-spaced, 12 pt. Times New Roman, 1-inch margins, 8½”x11” paper.
- Separate each figure, table, reference list, and abstract onto individual pages; number pages after the first.
- Cover page: title, authors’ names, positions, affiliations, and mailing addresses.
- Second page: title and abstract (250 words max).
- Submissions will not be returned.
Voice
-Use passive voice and third-person perspective.
Title
-Specific, no more than 15 words.
Abstract
-Concise (max 250 words) with 3-5 keywords and fields of specialization (e.g., strategic mgmt., org. behavior).
Length
-Limit: 25 pages (text, references, tables/figures). See our website with more information regarding this requirement (journal-of-managerial-issues.html)
Footnotes
-Discourage use; integrate into the main text where possible.

Tables and Figures
- Each must have a centered number and title.
- Use Arabic numbers for tables, Roman numbers for figures.
- Reference and place each in the text; include on separate sheets at the end.

Headings
-Use centered, bold, all caps for main headings, and left-aligned bold for subheadings. Sub-subheadings should be indented, bold, italicized, and end with a period.
References
-Include only the most relevant works, ensuring one-to-one correspondence with in-text citations. Exclude unpublished work.

Meet our Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Sang-Heui Lee, Ph.D., CSCP!

Dr. Lee is a Professor of Management. He teaches courses in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, and Quality Management. His research interests focus on international logistics, open-source enterprise information systems, and institutional environmental performance. He is the Editor of the Journal of Managerial Issues (JMI) and a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP). Dr. Lee travels to African countries for research, teaching, and consulting.

Sang Lee holds a B.E. from the Incheon National University and an M.A. from the University of Colorado Denver, both in Computer Science, as well as a Ph.D. in Operations Management from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Before joining academia, he worked as a Software Engineer for IT companies, including MCI WorldCom and Eastman Kodak Company.

Dr. Sang-Heui Lee, Associate Professor of Management in the Kelce College of Business, shares about his recent experience in Paraguay. He was teaching the Operations Management course in the PSU in Paraguay program. Three-week courses are taught throughout the year by Pittsburg State University faculty at Comité Paraguay Kansas in Asunción.
