Even though we have officially started the 2026–2027 school year, we’re going to keep celebrating all of our amazing 2026 end-of-year award recipients!
Today, we’re celebrating PHS & PCMS Orchestra Director Irene Diaz on being nominated for, and selected as a recipient of the Certified Rising Star Award!
In her nomination letter, PCMS Band teacher Delani Vogrin shared, “In every sense, Mrs. Irene Diaz is a rising star. Her work is already making a lasting difference in the lives of those around her, and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this honor.”
Over the past three years, Irene has brought incredible energy, compassion, talent, and dedication to our students and music programs. Her commitment to helping students grow both musically and personally, has made a lasting impact on our school community.
We are so proud to celebrate Irene and all she brings to USD 250! Congratulations, Mrs. Diaz!🌟🎻

On Monday afternoon, 08-17-2026, Deputies and Detectives with the Crawford County Sheriff's Office conducted a school bus stop-arm violation operation in Pittsburg and the surrounding area. Seven USD 250 school buses were followed by marked and unmarked patrol vehicles to educate drivers who ignored the red flashing lights and stop arms while buses were loading or unloading children. As a result of the operation and earlier-in-the-day efforts, three traffic stops were made, and citations were issued to all three drivers for Improper Passing of a School Bus.

The out-of-pocket cost for this infraction could be $423 or more. The community and personal cost for this infraction could be a child's life.

We will continue to proactively and progressively protect our community through operations like these, without apology. No exceptions. No excuses. Please give our children a break and drive cautiously and considerately around our schools and school buses.

Please keep an eye out for operations like these coming soon to our other school districts in Crawford County.
