Pitman Public Schools When the Borough of Pitman was incorporated in 1905, the Pitman Board of Education was created with students up to eighth grade attending Summit Avenue School.

Building on our unique traditions, the mission of the Pitman School District, in partnership with families and our community, is to educate all students through exceptional learning experiences to be discerning, ethical, confident citizens. A long and proud tradition of excellence

Pitman Public Schools have a long and celebrated history that dates back to 1884 with the establishment of the Pitman Grove School District administered by the Mantua Township Board of Education. The original Pitman High School was built in 1922. Prior to that, students attended high school in Glassboro and Woodbury. The first graduating class of Pitman High School consisted of fifty students in June 1926. The district facilities expanded in 1926 with the completion of two elementary schools – W.C.K. Walls School and Elwood Kindle School. Memorial Elementary School (1962) and the “new” Pitman High School (1972) were built to accommodate our growing population of students. The original High School became Pitman Middle School after the completion of Pitman High School in 1972. Our schools have always been a source of pride within the community. From the early 1900’s to today, our district has always been committed to academic excellence. Even today, we are most proud of our unparalleled student achievement. Our students consistently rank us as one of the highest achieving districts in the county when one analyzes our Scholastic Aptitude Tests (SAT’s), High School Proficiency Tests, NJ ASK Tests and other standardized assessments. It is with the motivation that we gather from our students that we continue to achieve excellence. Our students in each of our five schools continue to inspire us. With that conviction and the dedicated efforts of our staff, we continue to provide what is best for our students. Our community support always has been such a positive force for our schools. Parents have been a significant component of our successes since the inception of our schools. In 1916, the Pitman Mothers’ Club was organized to improve conditions for all school children. Today, our Home and School Associations work tirelessly for the good of all students.

On Monday, October 26, Pitman will host the NJ Department of Education for a community roundtable on our state’s school funding system. Join us from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the Pitman Jr./Sr. High School cafeteria.

The NJDOE will start with a short presentation, and then you’ll sit down at small tables with other community members to share your experiences, questions, and ideas. Everything shared will be gathered with feedback from across the state.

The event is open to anyone with an interest in New Jersey’s schools, so feel free to share this with friends and neighbors. Please register ahead of time here:

Happy National Coaches Day!

We celebrate the coaches who do so much more than teach the game. You inspire, motivate, challenge, encourage athletes to become stronger—both on and off the field.

Thank you for the countless hours, the tough conversations, the unforgettable victories, and the lessons that last a lifetime. Your impact goes far beyond the scoreboard.

Here’s to the coaches who believe in us, push us to be better, and never stop showing up!

Today we celebrated the Monarch Butterfly!

Our first graders, alongside several high school students, brought the Monarch’s life cycle to life with a colorful parade around the track. From egg to caterpillar, chrysalis to butterfly, our students had fun learning, sharing, and celebrating these amazing pollinators together!

A special thank-you to the Mollenhauers and Francesca Mundrick for sharing their knowledge and helping make our Monarch Butterfly celebration so meaningful for our students.

We would also like to thank Mrs. Palaganas and our Environmental students for their engaging lessons and for preparing our first graders for the butterfly parade. Your time, enthusiasm, and dedication made this a wonderful learning experience for everyone!
