💡 Did you know?

More than 1,000 IEEE Foundation donors have given every single year for the past decade or more.

That's the kind of commitment that turns ideas into impact — year after year.

You can explore more impact in the IEEE Foundation 2025 Annual Report - link in the comments.

Three students. Three remarkable projects. One scholarship recognizing some of the brightest pre-university scholars in the world. 🌟

Congratulations to the 2026 IEEE Presidents' Scholarship recipients:

🥇 First Prize - US$10,000: Hollie Tang, Sophomore at Glen A. Wilson High School (Hacienda Heights, CA) — “Tongue: A Unified Computational Human-Machine Interface Framework Expanding Digital Access for Individuals with Severe Motor Disabilities”

🥈 Second Prize - US$600: Partap Sidhu, Junior at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School (Lexington, KY) — “NeuroGait: A Low-Cost, Mind-Controlled Pneumatic Exoskeleton with CNN-Based Control for Individuals with Lower-Limb Mobility Impairments Using Brain-Computer Interface”

🥉 Third Prize US$400: Calvin Shang Hung, Sophomore at El Cerrito High School (El Cerrito, CA) — “Math Into Motion: Robotic Hexapod for Hazardous Environments”

These young innovators are proof that the curiosity driving the next wave of technology breakthroughs is already alive and well in classrooms around the world.

Meet the IEEE Foundation Board: Lorena García

Lorena García brings more than two decades of global IEEE volunteer experience to the IEEE Foundation Board — along with a deep belief in connecting donor support to engineers and students worldwide.

An electronic engineer with a master's in electronic and computer engineering, Lorena serves as Executive Secretary at Colombia's National Professional Council of Engineering (Copnia - Consejo Profesional Nacional de Ingeniería) and as Special Advisor for ABET in Colombia. She is also founder of the Colombian Electronics and Semiconductor Network, where she leads efforts to strengthen her country's semiconductor ecosystem.

A Senior Member of IEEE, Lorena currently serves on the IEEE Foundation Board of Directors, the IEEE Educational Activities Board, and the IEEE Consumer Technology Society Board of Governors.

We're grateful for the global perspective and dedication Lorena brings to advancing the Foundation's mission.

P.S. — Lorena is hosting a Think Tank at IEEE Sections Congress in Glasgow, Scotland this week — come say hello. 📍

This World Humanitarian Day, we are celebrating the IEEE members who are using technology to meet humanity's greatest challenges. 🌍

From sparking an interest in STEM education, to preserving the history of technology, and creating more open access to today’s breakthroughs, IEEE members make a difference.

What does "advancing technology for humanity" look like in practice? It can mean creating career pathways for the next generation, raising a voice to help address tech policy challenges facing humanity, and lifting up the innovators of today — but all of this is made possible in part by donors who believe engineering and technology can be a force for good.

To everyone using their skills to serve humanity: thank you.

✨ What a celebration! We're looking back at IEEE Foundation Day 2026 — some people celebrate half-birthdays, so we are celebrating half-IEEE Foundation Day with a look back at all the amazing photos we haven’t shared yet.

Now we're dreaming up IEEE Foundation Day 2027, and we'd love your ideas. What would you like to see? Tell us in the comments! 👇

The IEEE Social Impact Report is out — and the story it tells is one Bruno is proud to put his pawprint of approval on.

Around the world, IEEE members are using technology to tackle the challenges that matter most to humanity. Bringing reliable electricity to communities that have never had it. Expanding STEM education for the next generation of innovators. Advancing accessibility, sustainability, and humanitarian technology in places where it changes lives.

That's what "innovating for humanity" looks like in practice — and it's exactly what donors to the IEEE Foundation help make possible.

Bruno's official paw of approval is well earned. See the impact for yourself.
