On June 25th NEMC hosted the annual Summer Workshop for music educators. Dr. Peter Boonshaft, in partnership with KHS America, presented a session on rehearsal tips and conducting technique. Participants also took part in an exhilarating reading session of new band literature from Alfred Publishing. Attendees were encouraged to try any of the XO and Jupiter band instruments on display. The day's activities concluded with two presentations provided by NEMC's repair technicians on repair tips and tricks for brass and woodwind instruments that they could use in the classroom.

The Gerry & Franca Mulligan Foundation has announced the 2024 Gerry Mulligan Jazz Challenge!
The contest is open to students of all instruments in grades 9-12.
Contestants must submit a video link of themselves performing Gerry’s famous composition “Lines For Lyons.”
The contest runs from January 15 – March 22, 2024. Winners will be announced on April 6, 2024. The grand prize winner will win a Conn-Selmer saxophone. Cash prizes for runners up range from $500 – $100.
