At Rutgers University’s Student Support Services (SSS) program, we encourage academic prowess through a dynamic network of assistance, accountability, and social connectivity, seeking to counter some of the disadvantages presented to our population by mere circumstance. We implement a variety of techniques in our attempt to establish a valuable service for our students, and also seek to maintain a

nurturing, positive environment within which they feel comfortable to express concerns and personal issues. By approaching our mission from a counseling perspective while providing structures and initiatives to which participants can turn for direct academic guidance, which include tutoring in a wide range of subjects and focused workshops that seek to foster crucial study skills, we provide a complete resource for undergraduates from low-income and first-generation backgrounds.
