Scarlet Knights For Life

Earlier this month, SAAC Board of Directors members Demetrious "DJ" Allen from Rutgers Football and Ava Chiarella from Rutgers Women's Lacrosse represented Rutgers student-athletes at a reception following the Rutgers University Board of Directors meeting. They shared insights into the student-athlete experience, offering this distinguished audience a firsthand perspective on life as a Scarlet Knight.

Kudos to DJ and Ava for stepping up to this opportunity, confidently sharing their stories, and serving as outstanding representatives. At Scarlet Knights For Life, we believe that opportunities like these are an important part of student-athlete development. Public speaking engagements provide a platform for student-athletes to strengthen their communication skills, build confidence, and grow as leaders.

Incredibly grateful for the student-athletes from the Rutgers Women's Rowing team who showed up with so much heart, energy, and enthusiasm for the Greater Somerset County YMCA in Motion program this September! ❤️

Saturdays in Motion (SIM) is the longest-running non-public recreational program for children (ages 3-17) with autism in the United States. Autistic children (ages 3-17) and their families join Somerset Hills YMCA on Saturdays for two hours of recreation (3 – 5 p.m.). Volunteers lead the program and carefully guide the children through gym and pool time.

Makenna Coleman from Rutgers Softball and Shawn Brady from Rutgers Track & Field were selected to go behind-the-scenes for the 2026 CBS Sports x B1G Football Immersion Program for an experiential look at the world of sports media during the Rutgers vs. USC football game. 🎬

From experiencing live football production to learning from producers, directors and on-air talent, they gained firsthand insight into the many careers that bring a major broadcast to life. 🎥

Big thanks to the Big Ten Conference and the CBS Sports Diverse Immersion Program for this exciting opportunity for student-athletes.

Last Friday, in support of Extra Yard for Teachers Week and with the help of Sir Henry, surprised Field Hockey letterwinner and elementary school teacher, Gianna Glatz with a $1,000 award towards school resources.

College Football Playoff Foundation is the largest sports entity dedicated to teachers and education! 🍏 Extra Yard for Teachers seeks out to find great teachers who have made a significant impact in their school community and with their students.

Communities are built on teachers. 🍎✏️📓
