Our expectations of children can be so high when, quite often, they are mirroring what we do. We may not see what they are doing as important, but it is to them. That doesn’t mean that they shouldn't do what we ask, but it does mean that we need to take into consideration what they are doing. We can't expect them to drop everything and respond straight away. Give them warnings for when they need to do something else. Or give them options for when they can do what you are asking. This really is just treating them with the respect we all want.

Tomorrow is playgroup day!!!! Hope to see you all! We are using our hands to make snow dough! And our noses to smell it! Our weekly letter is Pp - our shape is a rectangle - our number is 5 and our color is yellow. And guess what? The season is still WINTER.❄️☃️❄️☃️❄️☃️❄️☃️

Even if they keep crying, even in their upset, they recognize that you are a rock in the storm. That when they are ready, their heartbeat can match yours, their breathing can match yours, their body can slow back down and find its way back to calm. Because their body sees you, and so it remembers that it knows how.

That's the way through pain.

That's the way to become okay.
