We recently participated in Imagine Your STEM Future! at Girl Scouts of Western Ohio. This event was geared toward girls in grades 6–12 to get them excited about working in STEM fields. Approximately 40 girls and their parents attended.
Trisha Elliott, Edison State Workforce Development Coordinator, led an activity focused on teamwork. Participants had to save a drowning worm named Fred, who had capsized his boat. They had to get Fred to a life preserver using paper clips only. In the end, they learned multiple solutions were available to save the worm, and by working with a teammate, they completed the challenge.
