To our Class of 2020 Seniors: Our hearts go out to you now. You deserved that one last time on the stage together. You've been through so much if you were in the choral program for all four years. You handled it with strength, dignity ,perseverance, and a whole lot of class. I have no doubt you'll handle this the same way. Go out into the world after you graduate and let them hear your voice. Don't ever let the music in your heart go silent. My daughter graduated last year, and I stayed with the booster for your class because I believe in all of you and couldn't leave you behind. Through all the field trips and performances over the years, I've been proud to be your number one fan. In a way, I graduate with you this year and move on, deprived of that final concert. I leave you with the words of a song I'm sure you know. Keep singing!

Jeremy Horton

Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on through the light
Take my hand, precious Lord
And lead me home
When my way grows dreary
Precious Lord, lead me near
When my life is almost gone
At the river I will stand
Guide my feet, hold my hand
Take my hand, precious Lord
And lead me home

Hello! We will be having our first Choir Boosters meeting this Thursday, 10/10 at 6pm in the Choir Room @ CCHS! This won't be a lengthy meeting, but I would love to meet as many of you as can come! -Mrs. Owens

Hello! My name is Natalie Owens and I will have the privilege of directing Chamber Choir this year at CCHS. I am starting my 14th year of teaching, and have directed choirs at all levels, from elementary through high school. I have a passion for teaching and for music; I truly love what I do! I have taught all over the state, most recently in Trussville. Fun Fact #1: my very first teaching job (many moons ago) was Choral Director at Pinson Valley HS! Fun Fact #2: I will also be teaching 10th grade English! I can’t wait to meet all of you very soon!

TO THE CCHS CHOIR SENIORS OF THE CLASS OF 2019 FROM THE BOOSTER PRESIDENT:
I came to know some of you during your years in the CCMS choir with Meredith Collins DeVore. Some of you are still here, We lost some along the way. Some of you joined along the way. I want you to know that I'm proud of the work all of you have done, and I know you all have the ability to go on to do great things in your lives. I knew before you got to the high school that there were issues with the choral program. The 2015 seniors had three directors during the four years they were there. As a former choir student myself, I knew how important a strong choral program could be to those of you who loved music. When you got to the high school, I worked very hard with Dori Hardee and a small group of parents to form the Cougar Choir Association to make sure that you, the school, and the community cared about having a strong, stable choral program at CCHS. Sadly, we were unable to do anything to affect the stability, but I'd like to think we did a lot to help keep the program going strong. We lost Mrs. Hardee, but I continued to work very hard behind the scenes with Stacy D. Daniels for the next two years, and you continued to work hard and shined every time you stepped onto the stage for a performance. We lost Mr. Daniels, but I continued to work behind the scenes with Erin Montalto Ludwick this year to try to make sure the program continued to be the best it could be for you. Class Of 2019, you also ended up with three directors in four years, which was not ideal and not what I hoped you would have to experience. Through it all, you always worked hard and hit the stage with the best possible performance you could. I was always at your concerts, chaperoning field trips any time I was able to, always giving standing ovations when you earned them, and giving words of encouragement before and after your concerts. You may have had three different directors, but I hope you noticed that you always had one constant person who was your biggest fan. I sincerely hope that was what I was able to provide. Thank you for always providing me with beautiful music to listen to, and thank you for always allowing me to come to the stage to sing Precious Lord with you at the Spring concert. At graduation, I listened to you sing Bridge Over Troubled Water with tears in my eyes as I realized it would be the last time I would ever hear you make beautiful music together. You nailed it! I hope you all close this chapter in your lives knowing that you have triumphed over adversity. Walk off this stage with your heads held high, and remember to always keep the music in your hearts.
