🚗 What Is Hydroplaning? – Safety Tips from Local Driving School 🌧️
At Local Driving School, we make sure our students are prepared for real-life driving challenges — including hydroplaning.
Hydroplaning happens when water builds up between your tires and the road, causing your vehicle to lose traction and slide. This is most common during heavy rain, driving through puddles, or at higher speeds.
How to Prevent Hydroplaning:
• Slow down on wet roads
• Keep your tires properly inflated
• Replace worn or bald tires
• Avoid sudden braking or sharp turns
• Steer clear of large puddles or standing water
Hydroplaning can be dangerous, but with the right skills and awareness, it’s completely preventable. Stay safe — and learn with confidence at Local Driving School!

🚫 Hands-Free Doesn’t Mean Risk-Free 🚫
Many drivers think hands-free calls are safe — but research says otherwise. At Local Driving School, we remind you that the real danger is mental distraction, not the phone in your hand.
Drivers using any phone are 4x more likely to be in an accident.
Stay alert. Stay focused. Stay safe.

SIPDE is an acronym where each letter represents a critical phase in processing road information:
S stands for: Searching and Scanning
I stands for: Identifying and Interpreting
P stands for: Predicting
D stands for: Deciding
E stands for: Executing
To understand its importance, imagine you are an explorer (the driver) in a dangerous wilderness. You Search and Scanthe area, Identifying and Interpreting signs of danger. You see a hazard ahead and Predict a problem (like a sudden stop). You then quickly Decide on a plan (brake or change lanes) and immediately Execute the action.
The highways around you may not have lions, but they are still filled with unexpected perils. By using the SIPDE concept every time you drive, you train your brain to quickly process information, anticipate hazards, and react decisively. This skill is the foundation of defensive driving and the key to staying safe!
