Mary Hughes School

Mary Hughes School Mary Hughes School was established in 1897 and became a 4 year high school in 1923. It later served as a junior high and in 1977 became a K-8 school.

In January of 2020 Mary Hughes became a PreK-5th grade school

We begin our Teacher Tuesday Spotlight this year with Miss Jessa Williams! She is a kindergarten teacher here at Mary Hughes School. Some interesting tidbits about Miss Williams:
* "Praise" by Elevation Worship is her morning jam to get her revved up for the day
* She is a morning person versus a night owl
* If she had not become an educator she would have chosen to be a pediatric or labor and delivery nurse
* Her hidden talent is that she plays the piano and has a music minor
* She was considered a "nerd" in school since she always loved school!
* Her teacher superpower is developing the bond between herself and her students. They really do become a family!
* The teacher with the greatest influence in her life was her mom, who also was an elementary teacher

We wanted to say thank you to every person and group who has blessed MHS staff with meals, snacks and treats in just the past couple of weeks! From a breakfast delivery from Edgefield Methodist Church during the teacher's first week back, to drinks and cookies and so much more from the Mary Hughes School PTSA - we just wanted to say THANK YOU to those in the community! It may be small to some, but these little blessings really make our days even more special!

We are so thankful for our amazing Mary Hughes PTSA for providing our staff with a brand-new espresso machine! ❤️ This is definitely going to help keep our teachers and staff energized and ready to tackle each school day.

We are so blessed to have a PTSA that continually finds ways to support and love on our staff. Thank you for investing in our teachers and helping make Mary Hughes such a special place to be! 🦁❤️
