It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a dear friend and dedicated supporter of Crowder College, particularly the work we do at Tatum Hall, Judy Duncan.

Through her generosity and philanthropy, Judy helped thousands of Crowder students pursue their educational goals and build brighter futures. Her unwavering commitment to our students and community made a lasting impact that will be felt for generations.

Judy will be deeply missed, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones.

Judith Ann Duncan, 81, of Bella Vista, Arkansas formerly of Anderson, Missouri passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 12:55 a.m. surrounded by the love of her three children, exactly as she wished.

She was born on June 15, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Frank and Ruth (Biermann). She graduated from Riverview Gardens High School of St. Louis in the class of 1962. On January 1, 1963, she was united in marriage to Gale Lee Duncan and to this union two sons and one daughter were born. She graduated from Harris Teachers College where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree. Judy worked as a teacher in the St. Louis, Missouri school system until 1977 when she and her husband, Gale became owners of Ozark Funeral Homes, Inc. until Gale’s retirement in 2004. They started the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory in 1990, where Judy continued serving families until she officially retired in 2024.

Judy served as the owner of the Bella Vista Funeral Home until her passing, was involved in ESA (Lambda Chi Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority), Traveling Sams of Bella Vista, Questers of Bella Vista, PEO Chapter BR of Bella Vista, Order of the Eastern Star of Missouri - Webb City Chapter #204, board member of the McDonald County Historical Society, former member of the Anderson United Methodist Church, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gale L. Duncan on March 20, 2012.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Sheryl Duncan Pennington and husband, Steve of Newton, Kansas; two sons, Gale L. Duncan, II of Rogers, Arkansas and David M. Duncan and wife, Tammy of Bella Vista, Arkansas; granddaughters, Caila Spitzer and husband, Devehn of Valley Center, Kansas, and Laura O’Malley and husband, Patrick of Little Rock, Arkansas; great granddaughters, Tennley Spitzer of Valley Center, Kansas and Phoebe O’Malley of Little Rock, Arkansas; two bonus grandsons, Denton and Derby Pruitt of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas; twin siblings, Jerry Pais and wife, Cindy of Lake St. Louis, Missouri and Jackie Martin of Florissant, Missouri; baby brother, Jon Pais and wife, Nancy of St. Charles, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and countless friends.

A big shoutout to our presenters, Dr. Oren Barnes and Julie Dobbs for joining us for our first annual Tatum Hall Team Retreat!

We learned valuable safety procedures from Oren, enjoyed some fantastic tacos courtesy of several of our longtime donors, and wrapped up the day with Julie leading us through the True Colors Personality Assessment.

What made the day even more special was that many of our faculty and staff chose to come in on their days off to spend time together as a team. That level of dedication, camaraderie, and commitment is what truly makes teamwork successful.

The Tatum Hall team is undoubtedly one of the very best, and our students are fortunate to have such an outstanding group of people dedicated to helping them navigate their path to graduation.

We'd like to give a big shout out to Toni and her crew at Four States Yard Cards & Celebrations for the amazing decor, inside and outside of Tatum Hall! There's not enough decor in the Midwest to accurately celebrate the hard work our graduates have put in over the last few years, but Four States Yard Cards & Celebrations came as close as you can get!

Today we celebrated the 2026 graduates of the McDonald County Nursing Program at our annual RN Award Luncheon. Congratulations to all our graduates, who have spent the most recent, formative years of their lives with us! Christian Thompson (James B. Tatum Awardee) and Site Director, Aaron Divine were able to squeeze in a final round of disc golf before graduation. We'll leave the final score to the reader's imagination, but we'll say it was just another reason to celebrate! The future is bright for the class of 2026!

Today we hade the opportunity to celebrate our inaugural class of Practical Nursing students! Practical Nursing Coordinator, KA'Sandra Leer was on hand to present the awards. Sarah Thomas was selected as Student of the Semester, Alexis Anazagasty, for Outstanding Clinical Performance, and Rosa Garcia received our Spirit of Nursing award. The team at Tatum Hall is incredibly proud of our first class of Practical Nursing graduates!
