New year, new you! We all think about eating right, exercising more etc. when we start a new year. But what about getting rid of things in our home that are toxic. Let's change over from the norm that isn't as safe as they want us to think to ones that are.
The first is antibacterial soap, sanitizer or anything with triclosan listed as an ingredient. It can also be found in deodorant, detergents, toothpaste, cosmetics and even clothes or toys.
So what is so bad about triclosan?
There are many things but I will list a few of the most important.
1. It acts as a hormone disrupter which means it will affect girls, women and boys in different ways. In women over 40, it can make menopause symptoms worse.
2. It has been shown to affect the thyroid hormone in rats. And hypothyroidism is at epidemic proportions today.
3. It also contributes to antibiotic resistance and superbugs. How many people do you know who had to take a second round of antibiotics because the first didn't work?
