As we say goodbye to our 8th graders, we also celebrate the incredible young people they have become.
Over the past three years, we have watched them grow into outstanding scholars, talented athletes, creative artists, dedicated musicians, gifted dancers, remarkable performers, and so much more. Most importantly, they have developed into diverse, well-rounded individuals who have learned to persevere, support one another, and rise to every challenge.
While their time at our school has come to an end, we know this is only the beginning of an exciting new chapter. We are proud of all they have accomplished and cannot wait to see the amazing things they will achieve in high school and beyond.
To the Class of 2026: Dream big, work hard, stay true to yourselves, and never forget that you will always be a part of our Lancer family. We wish you nothing but success, happiness, and fulfillment in all your future endeavors.
Once a Lancer, always a Lancer. đđ§Ąđ

The âFinal Walkâ
Getting hyped for our 8th graders final walk through the halls of Palmetto Middle
06/04/2026
Last school year, Mrs. Castilloâs 2024â2025 8th grade class took a moment to look ahead and write letters to their future selves. Filled with goals, advice, memories, and a little middle school wisdom, those letters were mailed out last week and are now finding their way back home.
As our former Lancers come to the close of another school year, theyâre getting the chance to read the words they wrote to themselves a year ago. Itâs a special reminder of how much theyâve grown, what they hoped to accomplish, and the memories they made during their final year at Palmetto Middle.
We hope these letters bring smiles, inspiration, and maybe even a few surprises as they reflect on just how far theyâve come. Once a Lancer, always a Lancer! đ§Ąđ
What a fun way for students to reconnect with their middle school memories and see how their goals and dreams have evolved over the past year.

đ We were a âDream in Green-Green Finalist Awardâ winner for all of our entries this year for Dream in Green. We addressed conservation issues regarding sustainability, fair trade, local and government waste, electrical use, and the ability to repurpose items rather than dispose of them.
đ Furthermore, Mrs.Hopta won an âInnovation in Educationâ award for her consistent support and advocacy for environmental education and school environmental improvement. This award demonstrated her long term commitment to these initiatives. Her leadership played a vital role and reflected her deep understanding of what it means to be a dedicated leader of the schoolâs âDream in Greenâ program.
We couldnât be more proud of the continuous efforts of Mrs. Hopta, Ms. Deresz, amazing students and parent volunteers!
