Last night we held a booster meeting. For months it has been stated that all 5 board positions were open.
For months we have pleaded with people to step up so this organization doesn’t fold.
I would first like to state some facts:
The season started with 25 players.
These 25 players all received a jacket. They were given a start of the season meal, meals for every away game, drinks for every home game. We paid for half of their Chase jersey, bought them belts and socks (yellow and cardinal). We paid for a second new uniform. We got each player 4 baseball tickets, a gift card for food and end of the season gift. I’m sure I’m forgetting things
The booster board consists of 5 members. 4 of the members no longer had kids in the program. 1 had a senior player.
There were 7 seniors. That means there are 18 players with the potential to return.
With all the begging and pleading 2 people came to the meeting and 1 that did not make it but would help. This is out of 18 potential returning players. This booster can not be run with 2/3 people. I understand people are busy, people work…but you know what the 5 that held offices worked, they left work, took vacation time…made sacrifices to make sure the players and coaches had what they needed. They are done it’s time for them to move on but no one is there to take the reins. That means the boosters will fold and any funds left will go to the school.
Do you think they will make sure the boys have what they need? No
So here it is…people have until the end of the legion tonite to step up. There needs to be 4 officers (the concession stand can be assigned later). Without these 4 things will be turned over to the AD on 8/1.
Honestly after the meeting I sat in my car and cried…cried for the players still there and for the players coming up.
I understand that there isn’t a new coach hired yet BUT the boosters is not about the coach it’s about the players and the team.
