Good morning, UPWARD BOUND CANCELLED!!!

Due to the directives of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in reference to the corona-virus- there will be no face to face gatherings on campus until March 30, 2020. Therefore the Upward Bound Classes scheduled for Saturday, March 14 and Saturday March 28, 2020 has been cancelled.

Good afternoon, Upward Bound Parents, Students and Friends,

As the school year winds down for many people, summer programs are getting ready to hit the gas. On top of the normal stress and hard work summer programs have, this year's stress is compounded; Upward Bound programs await word from Department of Education on future funding, despite many starting June 1. Going into a summer program without knowing the status of future funding is putting our programs in an impossible place they should never have to be in.

The Secretary of Education has the slate of funded programs on her desk and it just needs to be signed. Please help us put pressure on our public servants to move her toward signing this as soon as possible.

Colin Hayes in Congressman Womack's office,is a good point of contact to apply pressure to. His number is (202) 225-4301.

Thank him for the support of Womack's office, but let him know Arkansas's 20 Upward Bound programs need to know if they are funded. Every hour is precious. Please call, whether or not you are in his district. Let him know that there are 1,479 students dangling on the line.

The UAPB Upward Bound Program has several slots available for eligible Dollarway, Pine Bluff High and Watson Chapel, 9th and 10th grade students.

The Deadline for the 2016-2017 Academic Year application is March 31, 2017. Applications are available from the high school counselor’s office or visit our office in Corbin Hall Room 223 on the UAPB Campus.
