Meet the Cast of “The Color Purple: The Musical,” Opening April 9.

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) Theatre Program and the ARTx3 Campus proudly present the cast for the John McLinn Ross Players production of The Color Purple: The Musical 💜. Congratulations to this talented cast who met the audition call and will represent the first main-stage UAPB production since 2018, with an opening night on April 9, 2025, at 7 pm in Pine Bluff.
Performances are April 9-12 at 7:00 pm, April 12 at 2 pm, and April 13 at 3 pm in the Catherine M. Bellamy Theater at The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, 701 S. Main Street in Pine Bluff. Purchase your tickets at https://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/ARTx3Campus/4544/.
"This collaboration marks a thrilling moment in Pine Bluff's cultural landscape, according to UAPB's Department of English, Humanities & Foreign Languages, Instructor of Theatre, Taijee Bunch, who will direct the production alongside co-director Michelle Young-Hobbs.
Based on the 1982 novel, The Color Purple by Alice Walker and its 1985 film adaptation, the musical offers a poignant portrayal of the journey of Celie, an African American woman in the American South from the early to mid-20th century.
Two school performances of The Color Purple are scheduled for Thursday, April 10. Students will have a unique opportunity to watch the production and engage in a question-and-answer session with the cast and crew.
