🧁🌎 Geology you can eat!

Our 8th graders got hands-on with relative age dating today by creating their own “Geologic Cupcakes”! They modeled the principles of relative age dating by removing and rearranging layers, pushing a skewer through the layers to represent a cross-cutting relationship, and adding “inclusions” to their cupcake creations.

A fun (and delicious!) way to visualize how geologists use clues in rock layers to determine which events happened first! 🔬🧁

A HUGE thank you to Pinckneyville McDonald’s for treating our teachers, administrators, and staff with their Back-to-School Special! ❤️🥤

The Friday pick-me-up was exactly what we needed after a busy back-to-school week! We are so thankful for local businesses that support and appreciate our schools and the people who work in them. 🫶

Thank you, Pinckneyville McDonald’s, for making our Friday a little brighter (and more caffeinated ☕😂)! We appreciate you! ❤️💛

Meet Haley Stanton! 🍎

Ms. Stanton is a Special Education teacher at Pinckneyville Elementary School and one of 10 recipients of EECA’s inaugural Student Support Grants!

Haley received a $500 grant to help establish and maintain a clothing and essentials closet for students in need, providing things like clothing, seasonally appropriate coats, shoes, and hygiene supplies. Because the school relies on donations to keep these items in stock, community support is still needed!

If you’d like to help students at Pinckneyville Elementary, donations are especially needed for:

👟 Shoes and socks in little kid sizes 1–5
🩲 Underwear for ages 5T–10

Donations can be dropped off Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–3 p.m., at Pinckneyville Elementary School, 301 W. Mulberry Street. Spread the word and let’s stock this closet! ❤️ Pinckneyville District 50

EECA’s Student Support Grants were created to help local schools meet students’ basic needs and give them the support they need to focus and learn. We’re proud to support educators like Haley who are making a difference for their students! 💙
