Did you know our preschoolers brush their teeth while they’re here? 🪥😁

Yep. We’ve got a song for it too. 😂

It’s one more little way we help kids build healthy habits, practice independence, and take something useful home with them.

Because preschool isn’t just about what happens in the classroom.

It’s also about partnering with parents on the everyday things that help kids grow.

Healthy routines. Good habits. A little more independence.

And if brushing teeth gets easier at home because we practiced it here too?

That’s a win for everybody. 💜

A beautiful fall day is easy to appreciate. ☀️🍂

But this is the part of childcare I think people don’t always see.

You’re not really paying for the playground.

You’re not paying for the slide.

You’re not even paying for “outside time.”

You’re paying for the person who climbs into the playhouse.

The person who lets them pile in, laugh, climb over her, squeeze into too-small spaces, and turn an ordinary piece of playground equipment into a memory.

You’re paying for the adult who could stand nearby and supervise…

…but instead chooses to join the childhood happening right in front of her.

That’s the difference.

The work matters.

But the attitude we bring to the work matters just as much.

Kids know when someone is simply doing the job.

And they absolutely know when someone genuinely enjoys being with them.

That feeling — I’m glad you’re here. I like being with you. You matter to me. — is what families are really trusting us to provide.

And on a beautiful day like this, you can almost see it. 💜

That’s the kind of connection worth paying for.

October is actually a pretty wonderful time to join us.

The routines are settling in. Friendships are forming. Fall themes are in full swing. There are pumpkins to explore, leaves to crunch, messy projects to make, books to read, friendships to build, and plenty of learning still ahead.

And we still have room to welcome new little learners at For Kids' Sake - Trailside Preschool.

21 years of Ms. Amanda. 🥹💛

It’s honestly hard to put 21 years into a caption, especially when someone has become such a huge part of the heart of FKS.

If your family has spent any time at our Infant/Toddler Center, chances are you have your own Amanda story. She knows the kids, she knows their siblings, she knows their parents, and somehow she remembers all the little things too. She’s celebrated exciting news with families, talked them through the hard days, reassured nervous first-time parents, and loved SO many babies and toddlers over the years.

There are children she cared for who are all grown up now, and families who still come back years later just to say hi. That says more about Amanda than we ever could. 🥹

For those of us who get to work alongside her every day, she’s so much more than our Co-Director. She’s the person you go to when you need advice, when you need someone to jump in, when you need a laugh, or sometimes when you just need coffee and someone who gets it. 😂☕

Our Infant/Toddler Center has so many incredible people who make it what it is, and Amanda has been right at the heart of it for 21 years. She has helped shape this place, our team, and generations of FKS families.

We love you, Amanda. We’re incredibly lucky to do life and FKS alongside you, and there truly aren’t enough words for what you mean to all of us.

Happy 21 years! 💜 Here’s to a whole lot of babies loved, families supported, and memories made.

One of the things that has always mattered most to me about For Kids’ Sake is that we are more than a childcare center. We are a community.

Right now, one of the young moms in our FKS family could use a little extra love and support.

Arianna is only 21, raising her one-year-old son, Kam, while attending college full time. Over the past year, she has also been through an incredibly difficult cancer journey, including aggressive treatment and, most recently, major chest surgery.

Thankfully, she received very good news following that surgery, but recovery takes time — and the financial impact of everything she and Kam have been through doesn’t disappear when the treatment ends.

Arianna has created a GoFundMe to help with the everyday necessities while she heals and is unable to work.

If you are in a position to help, even a small donation can make a difference. And if donating isn’t possible, simply sharing her story may help it reach someone who can.

Please keep this sweet little family in your thoughts and prayers. 💚

🎉 Today is all about Ms. Erin! 💜

If you know Erin, you know she brings a whole lot of experience, heart, and energy to our toddler room. With more than 20 years in childcare, she has spent so much of her life caring for little ones, both as a teacher and as a mom of six!

But childcare is only one side of Erin. Outside of FKS, you can find her competing in dance, designing dance costumes, and putting all those years as a competitive ice skater to good use. 💃⛸️ And yes, she started competing in dance at 34, which we think is pretty darn cool!

We hope today brings you lots of laughs, a little time to relax, and hopefully some dark chocolate... okay, that last part is Sarah. 😂 Let's stick with cake for Erin!

Their potential is endless. ❤️

When they’re little, we don’t know exactly who they’ll become.

We know the child who loves books.
The child who dresses up with friends.
The child who asks a million questions.
The child who wants to know how everything works.
The child who already has a passion we may not fully understand yet.

And then we get the incredible privilege of watching those stories unfold.

One little girl we knew is now starting college at Bowling Green State University, moving into her dorm and beginning a whole new chapter of independence. ❤️ Becky Kroll Ted Kroll

One little boy grew up to become a full-time Fire Inspector and Sergeant with the Putnam Township Fire Department, serving the same community where he once spent his days as a child. ❤️ Catherine Gartner Welch

And this little guy — the one sitting there with a book while someone paints his foot — grew into a competitive bass angler who began earning recognition at a young age for his talent on the water. ❤️ Gloria Barkley

That is what gets me.

When they are small, none of us can see the whole road ahead.

We just get to help build the beginning.

Confidence.
Curiosity.
Belonging.
Relationships.
The courage to try.
The belief that what interests them matters.

The potential of these small humans is endless.
We are simply humbled to have a place in their story.

That’s one of the things I love most about childcare.

Yes, children are learning letters, numbers, language, science and all the things we expect them to learn.

But they’re also learning:

How to join in.
How to make a friend.
How to wait.
How to speak up.
How to include someone else.
How to belong.

And maybe most importantly, they start to understand:

These are my people.
This is my place.
I matter here.
