We definitely weren't ready for this goodbye. 🥺

Today was Ms. Erica's last day with us after 3½ years at FKS, and to say there were some tears would be an understatement.

Erica has become such a big part of our FKS family over the years. She is one of those people who loves the kids so genuinely, and you can see it in the way they love her right back. Whether she was sitting on the ground being silly with them, giving out hugs, celebrating their milestones, or just making everyone around her laugh, Erica brought so much love and happiness into our center.

We've gotten to watch her grow so much over the last 3½ years, both as a teacher and as a person, and we're SO proud of her. But that definitely doesn't make saying goodbye any easier. 😭

We're going to miss her laugh, her energy, seeing her with the kids, and honestly just having Erica around every day.

Thank you for loving our babies like they were your own and for being such a special part of this team and our lives. We love you SO much, Erica, and we'll always be cheering you on in whatever comes next. 💜

And we're still holding onto the fact that this is more of a "see you later" than a goodbye. 😉

Three years, a few different roles, and a whole lot of lives impacted. 💛

Today we're celebrating Ms. Sarah's 3-year anniversary with For Kids' Sake! 🎉

Sarah came to FKS with years of experience in early childhood education, but what she's accomplished in just three years here says so much about the kind of educator and leader she is. She started in our 3-year-old classroom, went on to lead our GSRP program, and today serves as the Program Director at our Trailside location while still doing what she loves as a lead teacher.

Through every role, one thing has stayed the same. Sarah cares deeply about creating a place where children feel known, families feel supported, and teachers have someone in their corner.

After 27 years in childcare, she still brings that same heart to the classroom each day, and we're incredibly grateful that the last three of those years have been spent with us.

Happy 3 years, Ms. Sarah! Thank you for growing with FKS, stepping up when you're needed, and pouring so much of yourself into our children, families, and team. Here's to everything still ahead! 🎉💜

Choosing a preschool is a big decision. Come see what a day at Trailside could feel like for your family. 💛

We’re opening our doors and would love to meet you!

Join us for our Trailside Preschool Open House on August 26th at 5:30 PM. Bring your little one along to explore our classrooms, meet our teachers, ask questions, and get a feel for the place they could soon be calling their school.

Because when you’re choosing care for your child, a website can only tell you so much. Sometimes you need to walk through the doors, meet the people who will know their favorite things, comfort them on the hard mornings, celebrate their big milestones, and hear that little voice say, “Can I stay and play?”💜

We currently have openings available across all age groups, depending on schedule and availability, and we’d love the opportunity to show your family what makes Trailside such a special place to learn, play, grow, and belong.

Come say hi, look around, and let your child do a little exploring. We can’t wait to meet you! 💛

College student. Infant teacher. Golfer. Future orthodontist. Lake girl. And today... BIRTHDAY GIRL! 🎉💛

Ms. Kenzie keeps herself pretty busy!

She joined For Kids' Sake at just 16 years old, and more than three years later, we're lucky to still have her caring for some of our littlest FKS friends. Kenzie loves getting to watch children grow and learn, and we've gotten the pretty special experience of watching her grow right alongside them.

These days, she's balancing life at FKS with a double major in Biological Sciences and Business at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, playing on the university golf team, and working toward her dream of eventually becoming an orthodontist. ⛳🦷

And when there's actually a break in that schedule? Get this girl to the lake! Wake surfing, wakeboarding, tubing... she's in. 🌊☀️

We're so glad FKS got to be part of your story starting with your very first job, Kenzie. We can't wait to see where all those big dreams take you!

Happy Birthday, Ms. Kenzie! 🎂

Help us wish Ms. Isabel a very Happy Birthday! 🎉💜

Isabel has a pretty special connection to For Kids' Sake. She first joined the FKS family when she was just 3 months old, and now we get to have her as part of the team caring for a new generation of FKS kids. How cool is that?! 🥹

One of Isabel's favorite parts of being a teacher is getting to know each child's unique personality, building relationships with them, and having a front-row seat as they learn and grow. Her caring heart has taken her into classrooms with children of all ages, and we're so grateful for the love she brings along with her.

When she's not at FKS, you might find Isabel planning her next trip, soaking up the sunshine, or working toward her degree!

Happy Birthday, Ms. Isabel! We hope your day is filled with lots of love, laughter, and maybe a little adventure too! 🎂

Happy 3-Year Anniversary, Ms. Bella! 💜

Today we're celebrating three wonderful years with Ms. Bella!

From the very beginning, Bella has brought kindness, patience, and a caring heart to our Infant 2 classroom. As both a teacher and a mom, she understands just how much trust families place in us each day. That perspective shines through in the love and attention she gives to every little one in her care.

Over the past three years, she has grown alongside our FKS family while helping some of our youngest learners feel safe, loved, and ready to explore the world around them. Those first smiles, first milestones, and first connections matter, and we're grateful that Bella gets to be part of so many of them.

Bella, thank you for the care you pour into our children, your support for our families, and the positive energy you bring to our team every day.

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Bella on her 3-year anniversary with For Kids' Sake! Here's to celebrating all you've accomplished and the many memories still to come. 🎉

I got a little reminder the other night that sometimes the work we do with children lasts a whole lot longer than we realize.

It was about 8:00 at night, and my husband and I were walking through Meijer—which, at this stage of life, sometimes counts as date night. 😂

We were deep in conversation when, from across the checkout lanes, I see this arm waving furiously at me.

So I split off from my husband and head toward the waving arm…

And there was a mom I’ve known for years with two of her daughters.

And here’s the crazy part.

We had these girls when they were infants.

Their older sister, too.

I haven’t aged at all, obviously, so I’m not exactly sure how they’re old enough for what happened next. 😂

But this beautiful young woman holds up this ridiculously long Meijer receipt and says,

“I just did my shopping for COLLEGE!”

College?!

Immediately I told her she needed to be nicer to her mother because I was pretty sure she hadn’t paid for everything on that receipt. 😂

We all started laughing.

And then we just stood there talking.

Where are you going? Do you need a car? What about gas and insurance? Where are you doing laundry? What are you going to eat?

Her mom and I are standing shoulder to shoulder, giving her just enough reality without taking one ounce of excitement away from this huge moment in her life.

And naturally, eventually, I got to boys.

I told her boys are expensive AND distracting, so she needed to focus, go out into the world, and do great things.

She gave me that little eye roll and started moving away…

Because if there’s one thing every kid learns somewhere along the way, it’s that grown-ups talk WAY too much. 😂

Her younger sister was already trying to keep the cart moving because she knew the minute we saw each other, there was going to be some stopping and visiting.

And her mom gave me that little side-eye look.

You moms know the look.

And for just a second, standing there in the middle of Meijer, I thought…

This is what almost 21 years of childcare looks like.

It isn’t just diapers and preschool and kindergarten readiness.

It’s relationships.

It’s getting to know an entire family.

It’s being the bridge for parents who have to go to work while their babies are busy growing up.

It’s loving those babies so well that years later, when they’re teenagers and young adults and they see you across a crowded store…

They still wave.

They still stop.

They still want to tell you what’s happening in their lives.

And you still get to stand shoulder to shoulder with their mom for just a minute and love that kid together.

That’s community.

That’s what I always wanted For Kids’ Sake to be.

And watching that little girl I once knew as a baby walk away, getting ready to head off to college…

I felt a little bit of pride.

She’s going out into this world to become whoever she’s supposed to become.

And somewhere way back at the beginning of her story, we got to be a tiny piece of it.

What a privilege that is.

Almost 21 years of babies, toddlers, preschoolers, families, first days, last days, graduations…and apparently now college shopping at Meijer. ❤️

And somehow, when you see them again, it doesn’t feel like all those years have passed.

They’re still our kids.

Just a whole lot bigger. ❤️

Maybe you’re not looking for childcare.

Maybe you’re looking for the people you can trust with one of the most important parts of your life. ❤️

The people who will know your child. Love them. Teach them. Celebrate them. And be there for your family through these incredibly important years.

Because raising little people while working, managing a home, building a career, and trying to be present for all of it is a lot.

And sometimes you just need to know…

They’re okay.
They’re happy.
They’re learning.
And they’re with people you trust.

For more than 20 years, that’s what we’ve worked to create at For Kids’ Sake.

Yes, we care for children.

But we’re also helping them learn how to make a friend. ❤️
Try something new.
Use their words.
Solve a problem.
Be independent.
Create. Explore. Get messy.
Learn how to be part of a community.

We’re preparing them for kindergarten—but also for life.

And along the way, we’re here for parents and grandparents too.

To answer questions. Celebrate milestones. Navigate the hard stages. Share the funny stories. And be another set of people in your corner who genuinely know and care about your child.

Because these years go incredibly fast.

And someday, the little friendships, messy projects, belly laughs, playground adventures, and ordinary Tuesday mornings in these pictures will be part of their childhood story.

We don’t take the privilege of being part of that story lightly.

Our goal has always been pretty simple:

Take exceptional care of the child.
Support the family.
Build relationships.
Create belonging.
And give them as many Best Days Ever as we possibly can. ❤️

If you’re in a season where you need that kind of support for your child—or maybe you’re a grandparent helping find the right place for someone you love—we’d love to meet you.

Come see For Kids’ Sake for yourself. Meet us. Ask questions. Walk through our spaces. See what your child’s days could feel like here.
