💙 An Important Update from For Kids’ Sake

We were so excited to bring Smurf Village to Food Truck Friday this month.

However, after carefully reviewing the current air quality conditions and talking with our Health & Safety Director, we’ve made the difficult decision not to set up our children’s play area this Friday.

One of our four core values at For Kids’ Sake is Safety. Throughout this week, we’ve kept the children in our care indoors because of the air quality, and we believe it’s important to remain consistent with that commitment in the best interest of all children and families in our community.

We know many families were looking forward to Smurf Village, and we’re disappointed too. We appreciate your understanding as we choose to put children’s health first.

Mud kitchens. Garden beds. Tree climbing. Water play. Painting. Digging. Mixing “magic potions.” Creating masterpieces from sticks, dirt, flowers, and imagination.

When children have the freedom to explore outdoors, they’re not just playing—they’re building confidence, solving problems, working together, creating, and discovering who they are.

At ZANT Zone Summer Camp, our backyard becomes their classroom, and every day is filled with fresh air, messy hands, curious minds, and unforgettable field trip adventures.

But if you’re already hearing…

👉 “I’m bored.”

👉 “What are we doing today?”

…you’re not alone.

The truth is, most parents aren’t looking for childcare during the summer.

This week alone our campers have:

🎨 Created giant cardboard masterpieces

🌳 Enjoyed picnics and adventures downtown
👫 Made new friends and strengthened old friendships
☀️ Laughed, played, explored, and experienced the kind of summer childhood should be made of

We still have summer camp openings available, including:

Because we know summer doesn’t always fit neatly into a Monday-Friday schedule.

To a child, a sandbox is a construction site, a science lab, a bakery, a treasure hunt, an engineering challenge, and an imagination station—all in one.

When children dig, scoop, pour, bury, build, and create in sand, they’re doing so much more than playing.

They’re developing:

🤎 Strong hands and fingers that will later help them write, button coats, tie shoes, and use tools.

🤎 Problem-solving skills as they figure out how to build taller, dig deeper, or keep a tunnel from collapsing.

🤎 Creativity and imagination as piles of sand become castles, roads, mountains, and entire worlds.

🤎 Sensory awareness through touching, feeling, measuring, and exploring different textures.

🤎 Focus and concentration as they become fully engaged in meaningful play.

And when friends join the sandbox, the learning grows even more.

Children learn to:

✨ Negotiate ideas
✨ Take turns
✨ Work together toward a common goal
✨ Communicate their thoughts and plans

Now add a giant tree overhead.

Suddenly, children aren’t just playing in a sandbox.

Some of the most important lessons in childhood happen while children are covered in sand and completely lost in play.

The best classrooms don’t always have four walls.
