At PR STEM Club we love that our members are well rounded, and pursue a wide range of interests. We have 5 members playing fall sports for Pike Road High School. In order, Theron Hurston, Luke Mason, Greyson Lipscomb, and Haynes Hurston are competing for PR in cross country, while Jackson Crooks represents the Patriots in football. We are proud of our student athletes.

Today’s Cooking Club was a great collaboration. Moms Kelli and Wendi helped kids Ali and Duce lead the others in making a delicious chicken and pasta fettuccine alfredo. It was served with fresh bread, and a salad with homemade ranch dressing. It was a great time all around.

The Cooking Club was honored to have a very special guest all the way from England. Mandy Milburn and Theron Hurston taught a session on a proper English high tea. The kids learned to make scones with strawberry jam and fresh whipped cream. They made two types of sandwiches, cucumber, and ham and Irish butter. They also created an Eton Mess. Finally, everyone went home with a lemon curd they made. Top that off with two different teas, and a good time was had by all.

Thank you Mandy for your time and expertise. We were thrilled the timing worked out. Thank you also to Tiffany Stutheit, and Roger Birkhead for assisting with the lesson.

One if the many amazing aspects of the Cooking Club is a chance for memebrs to share their culture. This weekend Grady and Stephanie Coppock led the kids in
creating an authentic Louisiana meal with jambalaya, homemade butter for garlic bread, and pralines. It was as delicious as it sounds. Thank you Stephanie and Grady for leading such a wonderful session.
