We had another successful Parent Night at CES! We didn’t get pictures last night of our book winners from the drawing, but we remembered tonight. 😀

LISTEN UP PARENTS! Do me a favor and don’t be like me—as you get ready to pack those school lunches, make sure your child can open all containers!

Save the teachers the hassle of having to open a hundred lunchables and learn from me. These are just a few of the things that were difficult when my daughter was younger. I thought the cutesy containers were perfect for fruit and leftovers, but instead they were too tough to open (or food would fly everywhere when she finally opened them up!).

Lunchables, string cheese and those fruit cups with the impossible lids were a pain.

So here’s the lesson I learned—practice before your child heads to school!

*If the hummus or peanut butter container is too tough, open just a smidge and put it in a ziploc bag—that way they won’t be calling for a teacher to come open it.

*String cheese? Take it out of the wrapper and put in a ziploc bag or plastic wrap.

*I also opt for squeezable applesauce and yogurts-much easier and less messy than a kindergartner with a spoon and a hard to open yogurt container!

*And peel those oranges! A few simple swaps and your kids (and teachers!!) will thank you!

EDITED TO ADD: Yes I’m aware these are processed foods I’m showing you. Yes, I’m aware that fresh foods and healthy fruits and vegetables are best. Yes, I do a nice mix of both for my children. I’m simply sharing because, let’s be honest, there are plenty of days I grab the Crustables or the j***y “processed” food for convenience…and I know I’m not the only mom to do so 😉
