Fall 🍁 is just around the corner. Some of us are happy about this and some are not 😆. Hard to believe summer will be winding down soon 😔.

Been working on my fall schedule and I do have some open dates for clinics 📆. I can do barrels and/or pole bending.

Had the opportunity to ride in a reining clinic last weekend with Sue Moffitt. It’s been a long time since I’ve worked on me. I truly love to learn more than I love to teach, and Sue was a great instructor and has a sharpe eye.

I don’t plan on gettin into reigning, my plans are to get back to the barrel pen. However, I love the foundational principles of horsemanship. Every discipline needs to be grounded in:

⭐️ Softness
⭐️ Collection
⭐️ Moveabilty

I like to use this old youth saddle for the first few times I saddle one. Just in case things go awry, I don’t want to bust up a good saddle.

This was my daughter’s first saddle. Before that, it was my brothers saddle. It has to be 35 years old. I think my parents bought it from R and L tack in Ravenna.

This past winter I brought it in the house and washed and oiled it. Some things will last a long time, if you just take care of it.

Using it does make me reminisce of days when Clare was young and all the miles she put in it. I love that I still pull it out and use it.

Working on some halter breaking and tying with our baby.

The fist baby born at my place in 25 years. She’s also first ever roan… and a blue roan to boot. I can’t wait to watch her color change over time.

Doesn’t she have the cutest baby doll head?
