An excellent group consisting mainly of producers braved the foggy travel to Brett Huber’s farm on Wednesday, September 10th.

Brett Huber along with his business partner, Luke Perman, shared some insights on why and where he plants his cover crop mixes, including trying something new this year for them by interseeding 3 different blends into 30” corn. Brett did some replications across a corn field to determine which blend is preferred by the cattle that will graze after corn harvest and if any of the cover crops impacted corn yield.

Interested in interseeding? Dakota Lakes will be exploring this approach to building biodiversity in corn at a field day this Wednesday, Sept. 10 at the farm of Board member Brett Huber.
He'll share insights into cover crop mixes that were used, when they were seeded, and the benefits and challenges he encountered along the way.
