"Our students’ learning conditions are our working conditions.” I’ve heard this many times, and I still believe it. Talking with educators in Box Elder and Brookings last week made one thing clear: every teacher and administrator wants a safe, supportive classroom where every student’s needs are met. We won’t agree on everything, but we’re stronger working toward this together. Last session, SDEA worked with the Department of Education and the Governor’s Office to start tackling members’ top concern: disruptive student behavior and the need for safe classrooms. There’s more work ahead — and standing together is how we’ll get it done.
