Meet the Directors of Space Pirates!

Theatre 605 Tours (formerly known as Dakota Players) is bringing the original musical Space Pirates! to the Grand Opera House, and we're excited to introduce the talented directors leading this adventure!

Edie Balester is a Chicagoland singer, actor, and dancer who recently graduated from Southern Illinois University. Passionate about the performing arts, Edie believes theater has the power to change lives. When she's not on stage, she enjoys the outdoors, creating art, playing guitar, and spending time with family.

Grace Lawrence is an actress, singer, and educator based in Detroit, Michigan. A recent Oakland University graduate with a BFA in Musical Theatre, Grace has spent more than three years inspiring and entertaining young performers. She is excited to share her love of theater with the Pierre community.

Calling all young performers from Central South Dakota! Pierre Players Community Theatre and Theatre 605 Tours are looking for the next crew of fearless explorers to join the cast of the original musical Space Pirates!, presented through special arrangement with Beat by Beat Press.

Are you ready for an out-of-this-world adventure? Mark your calendars and prepare for an exciting week of creativity, teamwork, and theatrical fun!

Space Pirates! is open to participants of all ages and experience levels. Whether you've been on stage before or this is your very first audition, everyone is welcome. No acting, singing, dancing, or pirate experience is required.

During this five-day theatre intensive, participants will learn acting, singing, and choreography while working together to bring this exciting story to life. Older participants will also have the opportunity to explore behind-the-scenes theatre by learning the basics of sound and lighting. The week concludes with a live performance for family, friends, and the community.

Ready to embark on this cosmic journey? Take note of the audition details below and prepare for a week filled with interstellar fun! This production welcomes all ages, skills, and experience levels—no need to have pirate expertise (unless you already do!). During the five-day intensive rehearsals, you’ll learn the ropes of acting, singing, and even dancing, all leading to a thrilling performance set in the cosmos. Plus, if you're an older child, you can learn how to operate the sound and lighting equipment, adding some extra sparkle to the adventure! So, let's band together, unite our talents, and create some out-of-this-world theatrical magic!
